Heatwave set to arrive in Canaries early next week



The heatwave due to hit most of Spain for the next ten days or say will make its presence felt in the Canaries also, although not until early next week, warns the country's Met Office (AEMET).
Spain is bracing itself for temperatures in the 40s as the mass of warm air brought by a front of high pressure lying between the Azores and Portugal at present moves eastwards and settles over many regions. The heatwave is also expected to affect Britain for the coming week. Although mitigated by their position further south, the islands can expect to see a considerable and sustained rise in temperatures (up to 35ºC) from Tuesday onwards, said AEMET in a weather alert issued yesterday afternoon.
