This is the Pet Cemetary in Tetir, filmed by Juanita Torres.
Only viewable on  PC.  Click the small cross in the top right corner of the Ad to get rid of it , then click Full Screen icon at bottom right for HD Video.

In the small village of Tetir, outside of Puerto Del Rosario, you will find the Pet Cemetary, where animal lovers can lay to rest their beloved pets when they have passed on to the Big Kennel In The Sky. A quiet, peacefull place ...

Oh dear, that made me cry!  But how nice it is to see such a well cared for burial area for our beloved pets.

woe10

Yes, it's a sobering place Emmi, when you you think of how many animals are badly treated on this Island, and that some owners would go to these lengths to remember their pets.

Spike On Q

I didn't know about this lovely place - so many real friends laid to rest and remembered

We couldn't visit, it would be a heartbreak, but nice to know it's there for people to use when the time comes.

Thanks Woe for letting us know

People who have never owned a beloved pet don't realise quite how heartbreaking it can be to lose them after many years. I sent this to my friend last week after she lost her 16 yr old dog.

The Rainbow Bridge

        inspired by a Norse legend

By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,

Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.

Where the friends of man and woman do run,

When their time on earth is over and done.

For here, between this world and the next,

Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.

On this golden land, they wait and they play,

Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.

No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,

For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.

Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,

Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.

They romp through the grass, without even a care,

Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.

All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,

Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.

For just at that instant, their eyes have met;

Together again, both person and pet.

So they run to each other, these friends from long past,

The time of their parting is over at last.

The sadness they felt while they were apart,

Has turned into joy once more in each heart.

They embrace with a love that will last forever,

And then, side-by-side, they cross over... together.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the former .....

A Spanish guy who has lived in Fuerteventura (Playa Blanca) for a long time owns the land. You call him, he meets you there and you choose the plot. He digs the grave and you pay him a Lifetime fee for the lot.
He started off burying his own animals there and it just sort of spread by word of mouth.

You can view it on iPhone / Pad now, but only the link shows. Just click on the link and it re-directs you to Youtube.

Hi All, Ted and June have asked me to put the posting below on for them as they are not members, please read it, many thanks

In response to the article and very good and surprising video featured on the 5th May   about the Pet cemetery outside Tetir, my wife June and I would like to take this opportunity of informing everyone who may be interested of the situation and how it all came about, and apologies for the delay in responding as not being a regular user of the Forum had missed out on the article at the time until a friend commented on its insertion.

In February 2008 our dog Sammie unfortunately had to be laid to sleep, and our vet at the time and some friends put us in touch with the owner of this land (see video 5th may ) where we could bury our Sammie, so the vet made arrangements for us to meet with the owner  and we took Sammie's body carried out the burial and paid him a fee, after which we asked if we could come back and create a small memorial of which he accepted with no hesitation, by this time it was nearly dark, so we decided to come back the following day, The area at the time was totally overgrown brush land with about ten graves, some very old and apart from a few, totally unattended, so we decided this was not good enough for our Sam but the surrounding position was beautiful and tranquil. That was over five years ago, and it has taken June and I that long to make it what it is today visiting every two or three weeks clearing brush wood, bringing in more rocks etc and keeping the weeds at bay after the rains.  All existing graves where carefully cleaned and re stoned where necessary.
After about four years of maintenance and many more graves we decided to cover each grave except the personalise ones with white corral to keep the weeds at bay , the corral was collected from an unused beach, two bags where collected at each visit
And it has taken a great deal of time as each grave takes one or two bags, we then purchased bunches of false flowers one for each grave.
We have done this not just for ourselves but for other animal lovers giving us and them a place to visit their pet for tranquillity and reflection.
We have and never have had any financial gain whatsoever, and everything has been at our own cost, and have never met the owner of the land since the day we buried Sammie but we are sure he is quite happy with the situation due to the latest fees.
June and I now look after, at the last count" sixty five graves" and growing, and as false flower are not cheap in that quantity   I will take this rare opportunity to ask for donations of false flowers ( which can be left at Royal decorations " Kookaburra " El Mattoral industrial estate ( near the garage ) but no monies please.
We hope you find this information interesting and clears up any misconception which some people appear to have had, and maybe you will visit your pet at the Rainbow Ridge cemetery again with a fresh bunch of false flowers.
""Apologies for the poor punctuation""

I don't quite understand what you mean by "Misconception".   When I buried my dog in Tetir I met the land owner in the village who then took us there. He dug the deep hole and laid our dog to rest while we watched. We bought white stones from a ferretaria and brought round boulders from Las Salinas Beach, (illegaly by the way).  We have tended the grave every 2 or 3 weeks ourselves and kept it nice and tidy.

PS,  For private reasons, I made the video under the pseudonym of Juanita Torres, and put it on YouTube for all to see.

Hi
Not needed at the moment and hopefully not for a long time to come but please could the contact details be posted? Also, does the owner speak some English? Whilst I am trying to learn Spanish I'm sure I will forget every word in the circumstances.
Thanks.

The land-owner lives in Rosario, but will meet you in Tetir by the church.  He does all the work so you don't have to worry about that. As soon as I dig out his phone number and name, I'll get back to you. Like you said, hopefully you won't need it for a long time.
PS, You don't have to speak Spanish with him, he knows. He's very compassionate. All his dogs are there.

Hi Woe, any luck with finding the guy's number? Sorry to nag but I'd like to have it on record before it's needed.
Cheers.

woe10

The man's name is Valentin.  tlf:  637 466 598

From the Church in Tetir, drive past the big round building which is the Lucha de Canaria. Follow the red dots.  DONT turn off this road until it changes from Tarmac to Dirt. About 2 km. On your left are 2 big houses made from Dark Brown stone. When the tarmac finishes, turn immediatly left, then right and follow the track for about 1/2 km. you will see the graves on the left. Valentin will normally meet you there if you make a time. Hopefully you won't need this for a while. If you have time, it's nice to go just to have a look.
