Medical records online

The Canarian Health Service is now included in the Spanish Digital Clinical Health History scheme
This means that patients, doctors and nurses, within the service will now be able to consult online any clinical reports and test results for any patient throughout Spain. The centralisation of medical histories means, for instance, when you are traveling, medical records can be accessed by any doctor. It will also help avoid the duplication of medical examinations and hopefully aid diagnosis. All medical records will be included, including a general health summary, external consultations, scans and X-rays, and any emergency treatment. To access the reports patients or staff can visit the government's webpage at: www.gobiernodecanarias.org/sanidad/scs, but the patient must have an up to date digital certificate code. It is currently up to the individual regions to decide if they wish to be part of this service so results are only available for those areas which have registered with the scheme. The Canary Islands began the necessary update to the present systems at the beginning of this year and it is expected to be fully functional during the next three months.
