Hi All,  thanks for reading my post!

We are in Corralejo from the 17th April, it's our first time in Fuerteventura and I am a bit keen to try naturism.. My lovely missus is a bit  :o about it, and I am trying to re-assure her that it's nothing smutty, I just want to enjoy being on a beach as nature intended.

We are staying at The suites Atlantis (I hope that's the right name!) in Corralejo, and wonder if I am right in saying that the best place nearby is the dunes? If so, please would somebody let me know how far it is walking from our hotel?

Is this the safest area? Will we get pestered by others?

Thanks for any advice given.

We always go to the South of the island for our all over tan, so I am no expert on Corry. As far as I am aware, the main centre for naturists tends to be around the Riu hotels in the dunes park. Thats about 2.5 miles from your hotel. I am sure someone on here will give more accurate info.

If you have not tried naturism before, I would suggest renting a car & going to nearby El Cotillo. Head towards the lighthouse & you will see other hire cars pulled off away from the road. The lagoons are great for a dip but watch the rocks! You have not got the best out of naturism unless you go for a skinny dip, but the dunes beach is quite exposed. At the lagoons, you get a good mix of privacy & other like minded people nearby for moral support.

As for being bugged by pervs & such, we have been coming to Fuerty for 15 years, & have never seen it. Remember, regular textile folk use the  beaches as well, mostly everyone gets along fine.

Many thanks to both for the replies, renting a car won't be an option this time I'm afraid, it will be shanks' pony anywhere we go!

I think my missus will be a bit embarrased the first time I/ we doff off in public, and I thank you for the kind offer Arnie, but maybe we will email you when on the island and see if she's comfortable with it..

I am really looking forward to the holiday and the prospect of getting back to nature!

I'd always prefer the area beyond the Riu hotels, where it's quieter. It doesn't cost much to have a taxi drop you off there in the morning, then walk back later in the day.
You might want to get to the beach early so you can claim possession of one of the stone circles. They're built to provide a bit of shelter from the breeze, but they can also provide a bit of privacy which the missus might appreciate on her first couple of times.

Enjoy your holiday Kev, I wish e were going but we had ours in February. If you are going to be spending a lot of time on the beach, I would advise taking a York style beach shelter. It gives you some privacy, shelter from the wind, & a stash for your belongings. Take some carrier bags to fill with sand & attach to the guy ropes or place inside.

Fuerty can be windy, so you don't realise that you are burning, so think about shade & hit the factor 30 for starters. Remember that bits of you that have never seen the sun are easily burnt! No no doubt there are folk on here who have horror stories about getting their bits burnt :-)

Enjoy

Hi we were in Corralejo last year and are avid nudist beach users!. We spent most of our time on the beach already mentioned to the right of the big Riu hotels. You will find lots of stone pods, these would be ideal for first time users as you can tuck yourself away and be protected from the wind at the same time. I believe there are buses that run the these beaches or you could get a taxi. We also went to El Cotillo but we lasted about 2 hours as the wind was so strong we looked like human sand paper!! but I think on a calmer day these beaches would be nice.  We are going back 1st June -12th June and can't wait !

Some great advice there, thanks one and all for the tips.

I think we'll look at a taxi to drop us there, most posts point to them being reasonable.

Cheers all and thanks for the re-assurances

You can always get the coach to the beach run regular about 3 euros return so very cheap. We are there 28th April, we mostly walk down to the beach, its a pleasant walk in the morning, we have never had any bother from others while there, this will be our 10th visit coming up, Like duncolm said, grab a stone circle, there are plenty available if you are there about 9am. Enjoy, and yes you will be back, it's such a great feeling to strip off and enjoy that warm weather, just be you and be one with mother nature. Kay & Nigel

The Corralejo to Puerto de Rosario bus runs half hourly for most of the day, stops at the hotels mentioned above and is very cheap and reliable.
The Corralejo to El Cotillo bus runs hourly and it is less than 15 mins walk to the lagoons where I spend all my time naked.
Hope this helps.

If you take the bus you can ask the driver to stop anywhere past the Rui hotels and just walk over the dunes. If you get off at the Rui hotels walk through the hotels to the beach turn right and walk for about 20 minutes past all of the sun bed areas.
The rock pods are great for wind protection and privacy as well as for leaving your belongings whilst swimming.
We have been there 5 times and met some lovely people on the beach naked with no issues at all. We have had the odd visitor to the rock pod having a look to see what was going on, mostly single guys and when you make conversation with them they have chatted then left peacefully.
The dunes are the best place for naturist sunbathing that we have been to over the past 7 years and will be returning later this year.

Have fun, enjoy and be safe by using lots of sun tan lotion even on a cloudy day.

My personal opinion is that you might be happier on the Corralejo side of the hotels. At that time of year it certainly won't be busy (it never gets to the "sardine" stage here anyway), and it'll be very mixed, possibly about 50/50 textile/naturist. So you can each feel perfectly comfortable doing your own thing and your wife can "switch camps" if/when she's good and ready. That's the beauty of the beaches here, IMO. We're both long-term naturists but we'd like to feel that everyone had the choice everywhere. Ain't going to happen, of course, in my/your local high street, but at least it happens on our beaches. 8)

Although there's very little of anything smutty going on past the hotels, that area does also attract a few people who are more exhibitionists in my book. Also, your wife might feel a bit out of place there with a bikini on. :o

Hi Guys
Honest Answer coming here.
From where you are you don't need a taxi , you can walk to a lovely beach . Walk out of corry towards the 2 hotels.
You will walk along the beach and you will find lots of stone shelters including an old gun concrete pillar box. Around this area it can be a little pervy (mainly Spanish ) so walk a little further until you get to more stone shelters just before the kite learning shed and park yourself on the sand if its not too windy, nobody takes a blind bit of notice lol,
If you hide in stone shelters you do get the odd perv looking in that could unnerve your wife a little.
Best is to brave it a little at a time on the beach front, that way its too open for the pervs lol
But if you do want to walk further you can walk to the hotels and approx 100 yards past is lovely too, I just pointed out the other best place should you not want to walk that far.
Last WORD IS WE'VE ALL BEEN THERE AND DONE IT LOL
enjoy!!!
Take a little off at a time and by the end of the holiday it will be second nature to you both.

Should you good lady decide she wants her bikini on at the start and then starts taking bits off she will become more obvious as she will have white patches and probably draw more attention she will be better to bare all from the start.   If however she does decide to bare a bit at a time it is your job to ensure the white bits do not burn and take charge of applying liberal amounts of sun cream to the white bits.  Enjoy!!

I am out for 7 days from April 20th and will be on naturist beach that is airport side of the three hotels on the CORRALEJO sand dunes.
I drink in Chablis wine bar in the evening that is in CORRALEJO Main Street nearly opposite CORRALEJO beach hotel.

suendrob

If she really wants to go naked she's best off not wearing any underwear or bikini to the beach. When she's seen the other nudes she can take off her dress and join them instead of going bit by bit. Jump in at thr deep end its easier. Take a sarong thing for a wrap when you're walking around. Sue is happy sitting nude but wraps up to go for a paddle.  Enjoy the freedom

MinRich

I would say the best place to go nude for the first time is the last real lagoon north of El Caleton in El Cotillo (probably the fourth bay away) , everyone there is nude for the vast majority of time . If you wore clothes you would stand out more . Its where we first went nude together .

Magoo

Could not agree more Minrich.

However, Kev said he is using footleather only this trip, so El Cotillo is out. If you should change your mind Kev, make sure you take everything you need, water, snacks sunshade etc. Also, take care not to damage the hire car & it's tyres on the "Car Park" It's a test of who has the cahones grande when parking up as close to lagoon as you dare.

slotman

I  am keen to visit El Caleton, but can't find it on the map, can anyone give more precise directions.

MinRich

EL CALETON is a building !
EL Cotillo is the town it is in .
El Caleton is the last building on the left as you trvale to the lighthouse at El Cotillo

That had me foxed until someone invited me to their rented apartment there! Nice place, nice mix of naturist and non-naturist, and different nationalities.

Hi Kev,
In accordance with Pete (butchbuildersinc) I agree that the area just out of Corralejo before "flag beach" where the windsurfers are is a fab beach with sheltered stone circles to try naturism . Myself and a good friend are staying at Infiniti again from 17th Apr until 1st May, which is roughly in the same area of Corralejo as you are staying. We will certainly walk to that beach area which should take no more than 30 minutes. Hopefully both you and your wife will find the beach a good place for naturism, as well as a taxi or bus to the dunes area south of the Riu hotels. The great thing about many Fuerte beaches away from towns and hotels is that both naturists and textiles mix together with no problem whatsoever so both yourself and your wife can decide what you feel comfortable with. And like others I do recommend going to the El Cotillo lagoons if you can as they are more sheltered from waves and excellent for snorkelling to look at varied species of fish in pools left behind from the tide, as well as naturist bathing and walking to adjacent lagoons.
Wherever you decide to go I hope you both have an enjoyable first visit to Fuerteventura and hopefully plenty of naturist time. I first tried naturism back in 2004 (on Gran Canaria) and once I swam naked in the sea and sunbathed naked on a beach I never looked back and have visited the Canary Islands every year since. I hope you will also enjoy Fuerte and naturism.

terrierist

Wow! What a response :D

Thanks for all the help and pointers, I can't wait to get on the beach and pop my naturist cherry now! Hopefully our lass will be encouraged by the presence of others too, Dan made me smile with the cream rubbing in tip! hahahaha!

If you see a lobster coloured beached whale it's a good chance it's me!!

Thanks once again to the majority for reading my post and understanding our concerns. I do so hope that we don't get any pervs, as neither of us wants that.
