In fact, the Meteorological Agency has issued a warning orange (significant risk) to the heavy rains and winds expected throughout the archipelago during the day tomorrow.

The orange warning level applies to Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, La Gomera, La Palma and El Hierro, where rain could leave up to 100 liters of water per square meter within twelve hours, with a maximum rainfall of up 30 liters per square meter in one hour.

Hopefully it won't be as bad as Nov 2010 and Jan 2011 when we got flooded out.

We're on the alert!  I hope it doesn't happen overnight as it makes things much worse.

please keep us posted. The 'on-the-ground' reports are best and far more accurate than the 'general' weather reports. Thanks !!

Spike On Q

Tuineje - Wed 10am;   Short but heavy rain showers, wind southerly 25kph

PHo

For any other old fogeys like me out there, 25 litres per square meter is an inch of rain

Captain Sensible

No rain overnight at my house, but then there was a short shower at 06.50.

It's very grey with threatening black clouds at the moment in Caleta.

austin7

overcast with occassional spits in Corralejo,

The alert has been downgraded to Yellow for Lanzarote & Fuerteventura, seems like La Plama. El Hierro, La Gomera & Tenerife have had a very bad night - reports of 150kph (95mph) winds, torrential rain, substantial flooding, trees uprooted, and other damage.

The main part of the storm is tracking Northeasterly and looks like it will miss us, we will just be on the fringes, with the south of the island getting the worst of it...

Looks like the bulk of it missed us. If you look on the Rain Map (Lluvias) on eltiempo.es you can see by tomorrow morning it´s clear  8)

I am near Gran Tarajal and the rain has been torrential for about 30 minutes. The satellite has stopped working.  The rain is running down the street in great torrents.  I the barranco is filling with water. its like the bad storm of 2007.  deep joy, I need to get to the airport in an hour

12.46pm Caleta.  Loudest clap of thunder I ever heard in my life. Nearly had a heart attack  :o

ben90125

Yeah I heard that too, loudest I've heard also.

Captain Sensible

It was extremely loud :o  Only one bang, then it stopped raining! ;)

Captain Sensible

Dry in Caleta this afternoon.  The wind has got up - around 30 kph from the SW.

gymackem

Currently very breezy in Corralejo, haven't seen much rain today and do have a bit of blue sky although the wind could change that. Fingers crossed for a dry night  :D
