Riding a 125cc scooter

After finding confusing and conflicting results online can anyone tell me the licence requirements for riding a 125cc scooter in Fuerteventura, I am currently riding one on a CBT in the UK and relocating to Fuerteventura this year and wondering if it will be ok to ride it on a UK car driving licence if I bring my scooter over.

When I enquired about hiring one from the Bahia Sol hire shop I was told it's legal to ride one over here with a full UK car licence. BTW â,¬40 for 24hrs.

Yes, a licence with a "B" category covers motorbikes up to 125CC.

Due to low speed limits a 125CC is sufficient in Fuerteventura. I have one. Getting very popular here in recent years.

Pillion passenger, Yes.

But, ensure that your insurance covers it. It's optional in mine. 3000e excess to carry a passenger.

dont forget though officially once resident here for a certain amount of time you will have to exchange your UK lic for a Spanish one (especially presume after brexit). That is where the fun can begin. My bog standard UK licence (basically car only no cbt etc) was sent off and trafico gave me a nice new one which entitled me to drive just about anything (articulated lorry, Bus etc )BUT no provision even for a 50cc putt putt

I thought the CBT was a training course before riding and passing a test.

moped if you`re 16 or over
motorcycle up to 125cc and with a power output of up to 11kW if you`re 17 or over

You must use L plates (L or D plates in Wales).

You must pass your full moped or motorcycle test within 2 years, or you have to either take CBT again or stop riding.
So if only a learner I dont know

one way round this is to get a international driving licence (known as IDP)

Don't fool yourself. An IDP is NOT a drivers license !
It is just and only an official translation of your existing license and recognised by a great deal of countries.
You still need to carry the original drivers license on the side.

I know the rules for the UK, but I'm talking about riding it in Fuerteventura.
