Quick question, a friend of mine foolishly and rightly got caught by police with no seat belt, they gave them a ticket and told them to pay there and then and they could get the fine reduced by half, i was under the impression that all fines now had to be paid into the bank and not cash, but even so again i thought they gave you 28 days to pay and still get the reduction if paid in the said period, any one know the answer please ?

Not an absolute answer, but I got done for parking at The Hospital about a year ago. â,¬100 fine, but as it was raining we drove back to Caleta as we knew where the Police Station was here, but allegedly you have to pay in the Ayumento you commit the offence in, and it had to be paid in a specific bank and in Cash, I was also told that failing to pay on the day would have doubled the fine.

If the fine was issued by trafico (yes I got one once) then it should have a barcode/reference number on it. I got the 50% reduction by paying within 28 days. I paid mine online at traficos website (think the link was on the back of the ticket) Really simple, just entered barcode number and it came up with the details and then selected option to pay by card , punched in number and job done and receipt downloaded. probably one of the simplest transactions I have ever had with an official body here.

If the fine is issued by the policia local then yes it has to be paid into a designated account (got a parking ticket off them as well). Again the info was on the multa. Personally I will never pay on the spot
