Corrupt Mayor of La Oliva (Corralejo, Larajes, Cotillo etc)

Domingo González Arroyo has been Mayor of La Oliva district for most of the last 30 years and has run it like his own personal fiefdom.  He could certainly teach Sepp Blatter a few lessons about corruption and dodgy dealings.

Earlier this year he appeared in court and was banned from public office for 9 years.  Since then he has remained in power and made a death threat against an opposition politician.  He's also involved in another ongoing court case where the prosecution are asking for a minimum sentence of 2.5 years, to ensure that he does actually serve a term in jail.

Last week after much ducking and diving he was kicked out of office.

Today he turned up at the Ayuntamiento claiming he is still the Mayor and demanding that the locks be changed on the Mayor's office.

The police have been called.

According to the recent local election results, his party, PP Majorero only needed 1,519 votes to get him re-elected.

It's quite scary that someone like him needs so few votes to govern a large tourist area for his own gain.
