All we need is a Franco type leader and it's back to a Dictatorship! ??? I am so glad to pay my Non Renta tax after all!

woe10

Flippin' eck, Police State here we come. :o

PHo

All sounds good to me. It's about time the law was enforced. If you don't agree with the laws, vote for someone who will change them - in the meantime, obey them or face the consequences.

chrisandco

Hopefully, this will kill the myth once and for all that this is a remote island where anyone can come, work, pay no tax and "they will never catch me".
There should be a lot of people looking over their shoulders now.

Ivemovedon

yep i doubt that news flash is worrying enough to have the cash in hand merchants searching for the quickest one way flights.

woe10

And there's a lot of them. I know loads.

One price for cash, another price if you want a receipt. What you gonna do  :o

thomo

Speaking to our lawyer today he told us he has had fifteen enquires about getting self employed status in the last three days, and other enquires about declaring income from abroad to take advantage of the amnesty which expires 30th June,

Brightspark

And the same thing happened in 2011, businesses and self employed got into a flap, put full time staff on the cheapest and minimum of minimums contracts and it all blew over within a month...

Same will happen again

Ivemovedon

It tends to fizzle out when someone suddenly realises the extra time and money being spent on policing  a 'crackdown' ,is not worth the actual monetary gain.

They've all but given up in the UK. Maybe they've realised that clamping down on the tax avoidance of just one major multi national company would bring in more revenue in far less time than chasing up every single hand carwash employee in Britain.

paully

A few years ago when they started to shed staff big time, most of the tax experts, and there were a lot of them who knew where to look etc, were snapped up by Lawyers and Accountants to find ways of their clients avoiding paying tax....another brilliant `lets save money` wheeze by HMG  ::)
I HATE computer thingyss

bluefox

if it was "stamped" out alltogether, million's would be lost in v.a.t. on material's bought, especially in the building game.  :o

gilbeth

I wonder if there will be a crack down on tenants who are renting property's and not paying the tax due.All explained in this months The Voice magazine

Archer

Maybe that's why you have to use a registered agent. In some US states they take 20% witholding tax before the owner sees their money!

gilbeth

This is a tax the tenant is liable for not the owner

Archer

Not really. The holidaymaker pays VAT which now due as well!

gilbeth

Sorry archer101 you have assumed I am talking about holiday rentals, which I'm not. This is a tax for long term tenants. The article is in this months The Voice

Deso

I have just returned from a week in Caleta and there seemed to be much less of a Policia Local presence, maybe they are all on the Tax course?   ;)
Regards, Neil
Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

bluefox
