In this day and age people still travel without insurance? Every time you book a ticket you are bombarded with insurance offers. Mine is incorporated into my house building/contents, it's hardly any cost. Allows multiple trips anywhere in the world for everyone in the family.

It's not really that hard.

Not sure from whom you get your quotes, but just tried out of interest and a 69 yo living in Ireland and got a quote of â,¬65 then check UK and can get it for as low as £47.50 so your point?

Hubbys just turned 65 and I've just turned 60 and our annual insurance with Staysure hasn't changed at all..still about £85 pa (and that includes I have diabetes and on statins) Phoned them as hubby was diagnosed with Bells Palsy in Jan and they said that wouldn't make any difference to the charge , but they would add a note about it.

When we both hit 70 we found it was getting more difficult and expensive until my wife hit on the idea of getting it as an add-on to our household insurance - result.
Annual insurance for less than many of the one-trip quotes.
It's worth trying your insurers.

On Wed I attended a funeral for a chap who was taken ill during his winter break in Tenerife.He had spent a few weeks in intensive care until he was in a condition to bring him back to the Uk via air ambulance and then back into I/C near home,where 2 weeks later he sadly passed away. I dont know how much the hospital treatment cost besides the extra  accomodation costs for his wife but I do know the air ambulance fees were £33.000. Be warned peeps it can happen to any of us.

nancud who was the ins co. you got the quote from please ? that sound's awful cheap to me, do you have any medical condition's ? i know some companies now ask for a doctor's/hsptl report.

It also happens to residents here who are working illegally with no contract, and not paying into the system. This is when the rest of the law abiding residents are asked to put their hands in their pockets at some "Benefit", to pay for them.

I must add, it's not always their fault, as some establishments won't issue a contract.

nancud, just tried multitrip.ie on line and they won't give a quote for over 69's unless you have a private health insurance, try taking out private health ins. at our age and more prob's, beside's it costing an "arm & a leg" !

Now I did look at 69 year olds multitrip in Ireland and around 50Euros pp for the year that was with Insure and go and Multitrip.com and with no real loading until 75 if that's any use?
I assume your in Ireland?

i think you missed my point, multitrip stated b4 they quote 69's, that you must have a private health ins. ie v.h.i, etc.
