I bought this (moired) print in the market of Corralejo 1967.

I thought it may be of interest to some.

Reminds me of Cotillo when we first visited.

Someone on Trip Advisor came back after 20 years away (not as long ago as that picture, of course) and said the atmosphere of the place hasn't changed a jot. Bit bigger and busier, with loads of changes at the individual business level, but basically still the same laid-back place.

I didn't set foot on the island until January 2012, so I can't tell whether I'd have been happy here earlier. But I'm happy here now :).

Which of you came here first? How far back can forumers go?

admin

I came here about 23 years ago - the rest of the admins some years before that.

Yup many changes (I wish I'd had a crystal ball) but still love the place.

First visited Fuerteventura 19 years ago staying at Caleta Del Mar in Corralejo. Came back to the island in 2004 and bought our house but in Caleta de Fuste as we found Corralejo had totally changed from our first visit.

That's lovely :D. We first came in 2001 or 2002 (last few weeks of the Peseta, whenever that was). I had never even heard of the place until about 2 weeks before. A last minute holiday that was a real find.

Years ago I remember looking at a site that had several ancient photos of Fuerteventura but I can't find it.

Anyone help?

Hmmm. I'll need to check that site out.

There are some good ones here but few with dates unfortunately:

First visit in 1984 and bought in 1985. Massive changes some good some bad but generally for the better. No paved roads, one baker, one small general store and the ferry was an ex landing craft, flat bottomed. Los Baquerus had just been built, no other complexes.

A few from 2000 to 2012. Not that old I agree, but does show the "progress" in this relatively short time.

Wonder what the above will look like in another 12-15 years?

The large white blob in the centre is the marque that used to be erected in the port area for the judging of the Carnival Queen. Somebody may remember the years that this happened.

First visit 1994.  Been over several times a year since.  Bought in Villaverde in 2004.  Sold in 2014.   ;D

I first saw that picture in (I think) Spirit of Fuerteventura mag.   Cut it out, framed it and still have it.

That would explain the moire then. If you're not careful then scanning from a printed picture will result in moire due to the interference patterns from the second pixellation.

It is in the right location.
Tres Islas is a geographical name and not a Riu dump, just like Geafond

Ivemovedon

probably the nicest dump you'll ever stay at. I think theres a few thousand Germans may well back me up on that.
