My wife and I are looking to buy a house in Caleta de fuste. One house is on Chip monk mountain and very cheap.ANY information would be helpful ,ie,area, cost of running ,rates, communal charges, are houses generally freehold.
We want to use the house as a holiday home and let it out to recoup running costs.
PS. Do you have any details of estate agents in Caleta DE Fuste.
Coming over at the end of January. Regards Joe.
The house we are looking at overlooks Caleta De Fuste at the top of Chipmonk mountain but if anyone knows of a cheap house IN Caleta de Fuste please let me know.
Thanks again

Chipmonk mountain covers a big area and most of the properties up there are on complexes where complex rules apply, along with maintenance charges (usually monthly) - you need to check this out as it varies from complex to complex - some complexes are well run, others aren't.
Don't trust any estate agent to tell you the truth - their job is to sell property for their customers, not to help/advise buyers. This particularly applies to "holiday rental potential". The law is in the process of being changed and it still needs the new laws to be clarified. Basically, on the majority of complexes, holiday rentals are still illegal - you need a license and the authorities do not issue them, although they will gladly fine you if you rent out your property to holiday makers without one!! If you have a specific property in mind I would advise you to pay for the advice of a bi-lingual lawyer. Some have been recommended on here recently - search for "lawyer".
Water and electricity are reasonably cheap compared to UK.
You also need to consider:-
Non-rental income tax, or income tax if you do rental out.
Local rates.
Rubbish collection charges.
Will you need advice/help to pay these taxes - if so, extra costs involved.
Also lots of recent information on here about "illegal rentals" - search and study!

Hi we are up chipmunk mountain at the very top in the square looking houses, if these are the houses you are interested in, the community charge here is around 45 euros a month. We pay around 26 a month for water. And around 125 every two months for electricity. Council tax is around 350 a year and rubbish collection about 30 a year. Hope this helps.
Please take note of the previous reply. We live here permanatly but there are holiday lets on the community. Any other question please feel free to ask if I can help I will.
