(EUROPA- NETWORK )BEWARE IF YOU TAKE OUT THIS SYSTEM AS WE HAVE WE HAVE NOW FOUND OUT THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO RECORD IF WE GO OUT AS THE SYSTEM HAS A SIGNAL BLOCKING ON IT, THE REASON GIVEN WAS IT IS NOT LEGAL AND WE SHOULD HAVE ASKED THE QUESTION WHEN WE PURCHASED IT  >:(

I was considering Europa because most people are saying how good it is. I enquired last year and the set up costs were around €100. I asked this week and the set up costs have almost doubled to €200. So thinking about it. Perhaps they want to make a killing, now people have lost sky.

I had a box for quite a while and although there is a record button on the remote it never used to do anything, saying that though I was never actually bothered about recording anyway

I have Europa via the phone line and along with the WIFI I think its a great deal as its only about 19 euros a month and you have a UK TV system and also your WIFI so really if you need both the TV is free

Take a look on their web site as they do have offers on there, I was told 200 for the TV box but found a link on the web and think I only paid 129 I also get email asking me to refer people and I get a free month the person taking the system also gets something so will post them on here next time I get one

I have Europa and paid 129 for the box and also pay 19.95 a month. If you want to record why not just use your computer and download expat and use BBC iplayer to record BBC programs, itv player to record itv1/2/3/4 and 4OD for channel 4 and 5OD for channel 5.  Plus I get 120 minutes of free calls to European countries. So seems to be a reasonable package.

Only problem I have had is that their accounts page has had a problem for a while so you can`t see updated call logs not very good for an internet based company if it can`t sort out its customer login page for a number of weeks.

With ADSL, the speeds are normally quoted as 'up to'. This is because there are 2 major factors which can reduce you speed, distance from the exchange and the state of your wiring.
To get the maximum you need to be near the exchange. Using your equipment 'wirelessly' will also reduce your speeds.
If you can web browse into your router status (often in 'Maintenance') and find 'statistics' you will find 2 'Line attenuation' numbers.
For example, my download attenuation is 41db and I get around half of the maximum speed.

Hope this helps.  :D

Streaming TV does use a fair bit of bandwidth so it will not be a good idea trying to download things at the same time with a 3mb connection.
You need the 6 or 10mb for that.

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

What are the set up costs and what are they for? There is no mention of any extra costs on the Europa website as far as I can see. Other than paying €129 for a tv box I don't see any other outlay.

I assume you already have a landline installed which you have already paid for being installed.

The cost if you want the set top box  is 129.95 + pp 18.95 + admin fee  29.95 + free router + tax 12.52 = 191.37 euros

However you could use your computer and a hmdi connection to TV if you so wish and avoid the set top box cost

No I've no landline installed yet.  How much does that cost and are you tied into a contract with Telefonica or can you just get the line in and go with Europa? The wiring is already installed in the house but not connected.

You can get Europa to do the admin to get a line for you or do it yourself. You will get the line probably quicker if you go down to Movistar  (next to rocasa). If you use Europa generally the line takes longer to get. You will have to be with movistar ( telefonica) for a year then if you want you can switch to europa.

EUROPANETWORK

Good afternoon,

In response to various posts, I would like to confirm that our internet is totally unlimited, no small print.... the set top box is priced at 129.95 + tax, however, is not obligatory to have in able to watch our tv service. This can be viewed via our website on www.europa-network.tv -theres also a free 3 day trial for anyone with an existing adsl connection - you need to make sure you use Mozilla Firefox as your browser (there is a safe download available on our support site if needed).

The internet provided is line permitting - it is the telephone exchange that will determine the ultimate speed that you can receive, and at times outside factors can have an effect. This could be distance to the exchange, or quality of the line entering your property. This will apply for any ISP using a fixed line to provide ADSL.

We will always check the potential availability via the telefonica site at the time of quoting/signing up..

Should anyone not have a landline, we are able to arrange the install of this on your behalf, via Telefonica/Movistar. The installation is currently free of charge, and telefonica will then bill line rental at 13.97 + tax for the line rental. They will also tie you in for 6 months.

Hope this helps, and should anyone require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us - please quote fuerteventura forum when doing so.
