:o Been comparing prices for a flight in August and Ryanair are charging £45 for a 20kg bag! This compares to Easyjet £18, Monarch £22.99 and Jet2 22kg for 23.50. I find this difficult to comprehend, why are they charging 3 times as much as Easyjet?

I think you have to look at the whole picture, how much is the flight, what day and at what time. The top and bottom of it is that Ryanair don`t want to carry hold luggage.
Mentor to the boneheads.

Well it means the Easyjet flight is £97.99 with baggage and the Ryanair is £133.53 so guess which one I will be booking!

I fly with RA about every 2 months and they have ALWAYS increased hold baggage prices in the holidays. Most times it still works out cheaper and the flight times from Stansted are good for me. You get 10kg hand baggqage + another small bag..a lot of airlines now only allow 5kg hand luggage.
Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and im not sure about the former .....

EJ gives free unweighed hand baggage as long as it fits into the (large) cage and you can pick it up yourself.

Baggage fees are largely irrelevant; what matters is the total price for whatever service you need.  Living 20 minutes away from Stansted, I usually choose Ryanair anyway!
