My Wife and I,sometimes with friends have enjoyed Corralejo for many years, but recently have not been very happy with the Timeshare Vendors who operate at the corner just up the Strip from the Disa Petrol Station, promoting The Atlantic Gardens.
The first time we came across this was Two Years ago when a very polite Welsh girl asked us if we would like to view the Apartments, but now it is do you wanna take a card mate(big difference) I would hate to see Corralejo turn into another Las Americas in Tenerife or Puerto Rico in Gran Canaria(worst ever), just wondered what view other people on the Forum have.

I have never seen timeshare sales people in Fuerteventura for all the years I have been going there.
Agree we don't want it getting like Las Americas you can't go 100 yards there with out being accosted and they don't take I am not interested for an answer.

You know, I've lived here for two years and spend an awful lot of time in town, yet I've never once had any dealings with these people. Maybe they recognise me nowadays. I too hope they don't get too annoying. Trouble is, I doubt they're actually doing anything illegal, and although the company they represent may be illegal it gets so complicated and expensive I doubt that our bankrupt local authorities will want to go there.

I didn't find them too bad when I was in Maspalomas in 2011 - they were there but they didn't insist once you said "no thanks". What amazes me is that you still hear stories of people getting into their cars and being driven to the back of beyond and being "held hostage" for hours on end. I even heard of one recently who said he "had to" sign their contract before they'd release him, his wife and their toddler. It's sad that there are still people who are so unaware of these dodgy dealers.

They were in Caleta about six years ago, wife and daughter got taken up chipmunk mountain.they were handing scratch cards out

Just got back yesterday. The scratch card/holiday club/timeshare scam is operating outside the Atlantic Gardens and, to my utter amazement, there seems to be no shortage of gullible victims. Sat on my balcony across the road from the Campanario I watched the sharks reeling in couple after couple, taking them off somewhere for an hour or so. They would then reappear clutching a bottle of wine. On one occasion I noticed the victims up in the bell tower being shown the view. There were at least six in the team, one girl, one black guy and four nondescript others. Very busy they were too, scoring hit after hit and escorting their victims to the office in the "excursion centre" where they were handed over to a leggy blonde girl. I thought that everybody and his uncle knew about the scratch card scam by now but clearly this is not the case. There did seem to be a pattern about it all, the victims were all of a type, hard to explain without appearing patronising but they were, well, not the brightest looking types. Which makes the scam all the more repulsive. Not to make light of it but the old joke "What`s the difference between a time share tout and v.d.?"  "You can get rid of v.d.".

P.S. Sheila, they were all wearing i.d. cards around their necks, not that that makes them legitimate of course but perhaps they are at least operating under licence.

I know time flies, but I would suggest these people have been at this location in Corralejo for more than the two years you suggest and I'm sure the topic has been brought up on the Forum previously; when the Atlantic Gardens went 'Time Share' as it were.
When I've seen them they have been wearing white Polo shirts with blue logos on them.
I have never been approached but they appear to go for couples, which I understand is the 'classic' time share tactic.

Thank you, it is good to hear other peoples views on this, as I said in my original post, I would hate to hear that visitors would not visit Corralejo because of Timeshare as happens at many resorts that we have been in.

Saw them in July and December and just said "no thank you" the first time and then they seemed to leave us alone. They were on the "high street" just past the disa petrol station. Definitely wouldn't stop me coming to Corralejo.
