I've just acquired an XBox 360 to bring out to our apartment in FV.

Does anybody know if we will be able to get English TV through XBox Live, or will we only receive Spanish stuff?

Also, I note that Spanish TVs use a different PAL format to the UK - will this matter, or because the connection will be HDMI to HDMI will I be OK?

Thanks.

Not sure about the English TV question but your xbox will work fine.

Hi Northernlights53,

we just took an xbox 360 out to our apartment in Corralejo a couple of weeks ago and it works fine.  Don't know about the xbox live side of things as we don't use that.

They used to be pre-digital age, the sound and vision channels were slightly different, ie you could watch a picture but no sound if you had a UK tv there, but now the tv standard is more or less worldwide (USA and other countries using NTSC not included).
The differences on modern receivers is the frequencies scanned that why when setting up a new TV it asks which area.
As to the Xbox live I have no experience, if it only uses things like BBC or ITV iplayer then you wont be able to watch unless you use a program to hide your IP address as they are blocked outside the UK for copyright reasons.
If the Xbox uses a web browser then you will be able to pick up UK channels through a web page like FilmOn with no problem other than having a strong enough internet connection, 1.5mbp should be fine.
Hope this helps.  :D :D

Just had a look and it does use BBC iplayer on Live Free, 4oD and Demand 5 on Live Gold, also Internet explorer but only in the paid Live Gold subscription, not the Live Free version.
So I guess unless you have a paid subscription to Live Gold the answer is NO.

yea you can get all of the BBC iplayer , 4oD and Demand 5 apps on the xbox over here but you cant watch them due to the ip address
