Have tried to pay my taxes today , only to be told that thay don't accept card payments ONLY CASH . However they did say that i could pay by card at the bank , so off i go to the banks that they suggested only to be told that they to do not accept card payment ONLY CASH . I then went to the post office on the advice of one of the banks , told there that they won't take payment cash or card so hence i havnt payed my taxes today, I could however go to my own bank take out cash & then pay my taxes BUT WHY SHOULD I ?
Paying by CASH ONLY in this day & age makes me think that the money may not be going where it is supposed too . MAYBE ITS JUST ME .

Yes they did accept credit and debit cards last year but was informed that they do not this year (in Corralejo anyway!!)

Yes it is a problem in todays age BUT remember things are tight and if you pay your taxes buy cards the card companies make a fortune and the tax collectors lose a fortune so in reality as long as I got a receipt I was happy to pay my taxes in cash knowing that ALL the money would be going to the services I am using and not some of it to the fat cat bankers...

I had a similar experience some time ago, I got a motoring ticket, went to the bank to pay it - but the Bank wouldn't accept a credit card - or a debit card ONLY cash....  banks not accepting cards - seems strange!!

Another strange one a few months ago, tried to pay an electric bill. It listed several banks where I could pay.

Went to the first one, waited, only to be told it was the wrong day of the month - they could only accept payment on certain days - and this wasn't one of them.  So down to another bank - stood in the queue, "How are you paying" I'm asked - "Cash" I said - "sorry we cannot accept cash, you can only pay this bill through an account" - On to the Third bank - queued, and guess what - "sorry it is after 12.30 and we cannot accept payment after this time".... My language would not be acceptable here..

The only reason I was trying to pay this bill inot a bank and not by direct debit...  According to Enelco, I didn't have Spanish bank account - My account was with Sol Bank!!!  Not Spanish..!!??

I agree with Cockney, set up a standing order, or get your solicitor to do it for you. Thats what I did when I bought my place.

Tim do you think the banks will do the transaction for nothing if you pay cash[?]   I do not think so, the bank fat cats will still be charging a hansom premium and they have got ready cash to boot[:0][V]
