Does anyone know what procedures are to be followed to establish a community for an apartment block
We recently bought an apartment where there is none in place and wish to attempt to formalise matters. Thanks for any help

Mark, my initial response would be that you need to do this properly, and involve a Lawyer specialising in 'Ley de Propiedad Horizontal'. There are many obligations for a Community, ranging from how you collect and handle the common funds, how you conduct the meetngs etc. Then insurance and liabilty issues.

There is a lot of law associated with Communiities and there are some useful links on https://comunidadesdevecinos.es/ley-propiedad-horizontal/

Surely the developer should have set this up when he put the apartments up for sale? Or maybe there are not enough units to come under that Act?

It seems strange that the Community wasn't set up by the developer to pay for maintenance, and upkeep of communal areas etc.
You will need to seek legal advice as Horizontal law is complex.
