Thanks captain, can someone with "the knowledge"  post a map showing the position of the new road ?

Thanks Capt.
A further comment re- the road to Corralejo from Lajares; has anyone else had the same thoughts?
At the new roundabout by the electricity station, construction of the the new lane off it looks horribly unsafe. Built with loose earth, sand, large gravel chips topped off with several layers of tarmac up above ground level?, Supported on the slope by a FEW concrete blocks! Also have noticed on the roundabout since it was opened they have been propping up the side of it (lefthand going down) with piles sandy soil & haphazard laying of a few more concrete blocks.
Keep away from the sides of both!!! :o :o :o    8)

Its Spanish perfectly safe until it collapse's.
if you want to watch something unsafe keep an eye on the lorry with the HIAB unloading those concrete blocks under the HV electricity line.
i guess the motorway will terminate at the Mercodona roundabout as its not usually included on Mway.
I am still in the dark as to how cyclists/pedestrians are going to leave Corralejo assuming they aren't allowed on the Mway.

I think you're right there Balck 5!
Went down this afternoon & they have joined up the "hairy" road link with the main road from the roundabout down to town. Added loads more concrete blocks to the edge :o
I think cyclists are not allowed on Motorways but is the road from Lajares to Corralejo not actually Motorway??? ::)  8)

Have a look at Google Maps - the new road shows quite clearly on there.

It's not a motorway. In spanish it's an autovia not an autopista.

Cyclists can use it, provided there isn't a sign saying that they can't use it.

As above, now open in both directions, and it knocks about ten minutes off our weekly trip from Caleta to the harbour area in Corralejo, so most welcome! There are clear signs both ends indicating that cyclists are NOT permitted to use the autovia....we passed three going north and a group of about six going south today! 😳

Drove from Corralejo to Caleta on Saturday before last, before the other side was open, lovely drive, not a soul in sight and did take off about 10mins travelling time  ;D

If it is not motorway from Lajares to the Mercodona/electricity substation island they have wasted a lot of money on the new La Capellania entrance/exit . It could have been a simple roundabout. Perhaps they are borrowing Elon Musks tunneling machine to get bikes and pedestrians out of a hole or into one ;D
