Nice Picture and a great find. Thought it might be a truffle (Cria) which crop up after rainfall so the time of year is right. Not sure though whether the truffles grow just under the surface and you have to dig them out. Would be interested to see how it develops and whether it opens up. Maybe you can go back in a couple of days and take another picture. If it opens up then it's a mushroom.

Unless you are intending to eat it you have nothing to worry about - I have a number of varieties in my garden, I've grown them for years both here and in the UK. Also growing the similar Brugmansias.

MLA/JLA - the triffid in the top corner of my garden is a Datura Blackcurrant Swirl growing with a Thunbergia Grandiflora:

Hmmm ... thanks for the info. As I have 3 cats and 2 dogs wandering around the garden, it'probably a good idea to dig them up.

Seen the wild white ones on pavement edges. The council come & dig them up because they are poisonous.

As I said, only a problem if you eat them! Most animals have the sense not to eat something that is poisonous (ragwort excepted!), not so sure about humans though ......
Miseltoe, ivy, yew, rhubarb leaves, daphne, castor bean (ricin) which is a commonly planted 'architectural' plant etc - lots of poisonous plants out there!

Aka Jimson Weed. I wouldn't allow it to grow in my garden. Many cases of accidental poisoning and many many recorded cases of serious overdoses.
