Got our reservation contract for a property in Valles de Ortega. Been looking for a couple of years so time to bite the bullet. Just waiting to get all finished now & get back out to get the essentials in place for our first break in our own bit of paradise, can't wait. Roll on next year.  ;D ;D ;D

No doubt you will enjoy, we took the plunge earlier in the year and it likes starting all over again with your first house.  We had a look in your area and decided we wanted to be nearer the golf courses.

Whispa who runs the Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday walks live in that area so may be well worth contacting for advice and tips.

Good Luck

Ha ha Windermere, we don't play golf so not an issue but thought long & hard & decided to get a bit away from the "tourist" areas. We can use them when we want but go home to a nice quiet area & not have rowdy holiday parties at 3am (we hope). Have seen you're posts, enjoy

Hi Spitfire58 - Touch wood so far no 3am parties, great neighbours and all seems quite sedate on our complex to date, fingers crossed it stays that way.

Hi Freda, thanks for the welcome & am sure we will join you when out there. What is the village like ? Hoping it is nice & quiet. Will be trying to learn Spanish as well as I believe it is mostly residential Spanish there. That will be fun, lol. Bit long in the tooth for a new language but will give it our best shot !!

I'm in the valley, so maybe different if you're in the village itself, it is hotter in the summer than in Caleta and cooler in the winter, but it won't affect you for a few years yet. I've been here for 15 years and am still struggling to learn the language, I can manage to get by, ordering food is a priority, so learn the meals you like ready for eating out. There are a few people teaching Spanish, but I've downloaded Duolingo which is very helpful also use google translate.

Good Luck in your venture over here, lovely to be away from the cold and wet of the UK. Hope to see you soon.

Cheers Freda
