Is Car road tax paid every 12 months or 6 ?

Hope you don't mind me adding a Q to your post Chris.

Who and How do you advise a change of address in relation to a car? Also, do you need to advise COA for Spanish Driving Licence?

Trafico office in Pto. Tamara.  Take passport, residencia, new empadronamiento & green papers of vehicle/s and latest proof of payment of road tax (and someone who speaks good Spanish) 😐.  They should do the change of address for license too. 
There are other things you should do too but may have done them already, like change your address at Hacienda (if I remember correctly on a form '300' - if wrong, I'm sure someone else will know, or I can look mine up later). Your Laywer may have done this for you but it's worth checking!!

Thanks Annette, very helpful as always. No one has done any COAs for us and I thought I had covered everything until I saw Chris' post and a bell rang ................

I might start a new post re COA, a ticklist really of what/where/how, asking everyone to contribute and I could cut and paste the details provided into the ticklist.
