We use Aqua Ferte, it is very caustic, but it depends what is blocking it.

Ta, trip to Marcial'sl then and try that, think it is just general build up of detritus over time, If not option 2 involving the sledgehammer may come into play

Thank you people but a full bottle of desinfeccion and the appliance of hot jet shower seems to have done it, Think half the trouble is as we know most washing machines here vent into the bath, so with all the dust etc!!!! But I will chuck a bottle of above down it as well just in case.

Just avoid the fumes, not pleasant!

Agua fuerte is, basically, hydrochloric acid. It is great for dissolving mineral rather than organic deposits, and also very effective at dissolving metal pipework, stone, cement, mortar etc...! The best drain clearer is simple, cheap, caustic soda, although like Agua fuerte it needs to be treated with caution and respect. Buy it in most fereterias or supermarkets, and follow the instructions on the pack, wearing rubber gloves and, ideally, some eye protection!

you would have a problem finding anything cheaper than Agua fuerte its around 1â,¬ a bottle

Is there a trap in your bathroom floor with a metal cover? We had a blockage and a plumber just unscrewed and unblocked it in minutes.

Thanks again people, Seems to be ok now and I forgot about the access plate in the floor and just rod it, as it has a towel to stand on over it. First thought next time

Just like when an electrical appliance falters... Normally, if you switch it off, wait a few minutes & then switch it on again, hey presto... it works perfectly, but I always forget to do this  :)
