Hi everyone, we have been coming to Fuerteventura for many years and have never been to see this wreck, but keep meaning to. Does anyone know if there is anything left of it?

nothing worth seeing now, sorry

edit...apparently you can still see something at low tide (but I didn't.)

if you go onto Youtube and enter SS America you'll see it's whole history from the day her keel was layed to when she ran aground, it's real interesting and well worth a look........just to finish, i remember seeing somewhere that when a ship is renamed it put's bad luck and sometimes a curse on the vessel ......even tho' an old mariners tail, it doesn't look far from the truth !

Sueandrog if you ever go into Puerto Del Rosario, there is a Bar called Naufragio ( shipwreck ) with lots of memorabilia rifled off the American Star. Worth a visit.

Very short video from photos taken by me in December 2015.  Probably just the engine block is left.  The track to it is mostly OK.  A few people come down in ordinary cars but I had a high clearance vehicle (Opel Mokka).  I do not think a 4x4 is necessary.

great pics Em, have you seen the one's on youtube ? quite a few movie's of the ship as well over theyrs. .........of course i read your post Woe, but that's not the place i was thinking of, i was lead to believe it's somewhere in the older part of town and the whole place was fitted out from the complete bar off the ship, as i said i'm not sure if it's still open.
