Aniseed Bread

Many of you will already know I`m sure, but on our latest trip we ran across this fabulous bread. Very soft oval shaped loaf containing aniseed. Baked to perfection and a real change from the hard crunchy stuff. The taste was really good, unless you don`t like aniseed that is  >:(

   Its from the bakery in La Oliva (although might be available elsewhere) the location of which must be one of Fuerteventura`s best kept secrets...

   If you are in the market for some, opposite the Church in the village you will see the Pharmacy. Take the road one back from it, which looks like a narrow country lane full of derelict houses. Drive on and its a detached building on the left in the middle of nowhere..

   Worth a visit if you are in the area..lots of other good stuff as well. Open till 3pm most days

It's called pan de matalauva and can be found in most bakeries around the island.  Very tasty, especially with some fresh goats cheese, tomatoes with sea salt and oregano.

It's a green type of anis found in the islands.

In Corralejo and in campanerio Trigo on thr corner and by the taxi rank do anis bread and lovely anis doughnut type cakes
