Flights into Airport between 2am and 4 am??

I thought the airport was closed during the night, but last night I heard about 4 planes coming in during 2 - 4 am? Very quiet as if they were gliding in, but planes nevertheless. I am  curious!

Possibly flights delayed by the air traffic control strike in France and better to arrive in normal closed hours than carry delays forward or military?

According to a neighbor of mine there were some late arrivals last night a Jetairfly flight from Paris arrived at 04:53 and left at 05:38 and he believes there were others, French Air Traffic control strike, he said this one was 8 hours late, I am surprised they accepted it it apparently did not leave Paris until gone midnight.
