Having dropped our guests off at the airport this morning, we now realise that most, if not all, flights coming in from the UK today are delayed by between 40 minutes and 90 minutes. Consequently, flights out to UK destinations are also significantly delayed. I'd assumed at first it must be due to the strong southerly headwinds today, but it looks like they are actually leaving the UK late by these margins. Flights from all other European countries appear to be on time....strange!

Snowdrop

Lots of flooding in north England so maybe that is having a knock on affect

Just heard it's due to a twenty minute computer failure at the ATC centre, West Dayton around 6.00am today, causing delays nationwide. Second or third time in a month, really reassuring, isn't it?!

paully

Doubt it was any problem caused by West Drayton, they closed in 2002 and moved to Swanwick..These things happen in a highly technical area like ATC and yes they do happen all over the world as well. UK air traffic control operations have a fantastic safety reputation where nothing is left to chance..

Its approaching places like Fuerte you need to be concerned, where a jet might be turning from base onto finals about Las Salinas and suddenly finds a Binter Turbo prop slotted in ahead of him, with all the instructions given in Spanish  :o

Yes that does happen...it shouldnt but it does
I HATE computer thingyss
