What are the three things you would recommend to take with you from the UK? and what if anything did you not take and wished you had? and don't say the wife or husband, serious answers only please

SheilaW

I recommend bringing:
1) yourself
2) any photos, mementos, trinkets etc that are really dear to you and that you'd be heartbroken to lose (e.g. in a fire)
3) any official-type papers that would cause you real problems if you lost them.

What do I wish I'd brought? Nothing at all springs to mind.

Now, if you'd asked
Quotewhat things did you take with you that you could well have left behind? And which should you definitely have left behind?
that would be a long list indeed.

We just bought our CDs and LPs plus photos and other personal stuff. Everything else we sold and started again with some lovely furniture bought locally
Short of nothing here

Obviously you need a basic minimum amount of clothing & your most important & treasured personal items (think: "do I really need this, can I live without it?") Apart from that, the most important things (in my opinion) are:

1. A Laptop/tablet/smartphone, with MP3 music files (saves bringing CDs and you can use WiFi hotspots to stay in contact with loved ones)
2. A Kindle, so you don't bring lots of books
3. A few UK-Europe plug adapters, so you can use your electrical items straight away.

You can buy pretty much everything in Fuerteventura (although not sure about Kindles?), however having these few things when you arrive saves time and is likely to help you settle in a bit quicker. Also, if you like gravy you may want to bring some gravy granules (Sainsburys basics gravy granules = 25p: Bisto Gravy Granules in Spanish supermarket = 3.55 euros)

I'm glad I brought my sewing machine, my sheepskin bootee slippers and enough ordinary everyday items to make it feel like home straightaway. (Favourite pictures, crockery etc). I'm so glad I brought my garden spade, digging fork and hand fork as well - they don't do the same range of garden tools here - the local tools are quite vicious (designed for the environment) and use different muscles!
Wish we'd brought our Concept2 Rowing machine. We didn't as we didn't know where we would be living and whether we would have room for it. After a year we ended up buying a new one and paying to have it shipped over. (The rowing machines available to buy here are not particularly good quality or design. The same goes for most gym equipment but we only gave in for importing the rower!)
Also wish I'd brought more cold weather clothing instead of sending it all to the charity shops before we left the UK. Needed it on our winter evenings  :o

Better late than never - I'd make sure I had a clothes spending spree just before I came.  Including spare swimwear, nice flip flops and underwear.  Over here choice is limited or costs more for inferior quality I think.  Also a stock of aldi sun lotion which is a great price in England and very good.  Also I like fruit smelling soaps and struggle over here to get them.  Oh and Kabana sausages and delicious pheasant ohhhhhhhh........
