debit card/credit card

looking to hire a car for our holiday starting tomorrow to be picked up at airport.cabrera medina and cicar are coming up cheapest.can anyone tell me if we would be okay using a debit card to pay,or do we need to have a credit card.

Debit card is fine - they don't take a deposit as such, buy MAY charge a fuel deposit which you can reclaim on return - sometimes they do for fuel and often they don't.
Also, have you looked at Plus Car and Payless as they are often cheaper. We're picking up from Plus Car tomorrow!

Thanks for your reply lionfish.just completed the booking and on last page it says debit card ok.been on all the car hire sites,and for the car we need for 4 adults and 5 month old baby plus luggage,cabrera medina comes out cheapest.in the past we,ve always booked a car in caleta for a few days and paid cash.this time we are picking the car up at airport for the whole 11 days.thanks again for your prompt reply,much appreciated. by the way lionfish,i,m meeting up with Deso off the forum on thursday 26th september for a beer or two in caleta.if you fancy joining us just pm me on here,and we can arrange it.
