I hadn't realised Easyjet have started on line check-in and are looking to make it compulsory after 30th April: see link below.

Their check-in desks will apparently just become bag drops for hold luggage.

With this in mind has/is anything been/being done at Fuerteventura Airport to accommodate this?

Ryanair and Air Lingus have been using online check in at Fuerteventura for years. You should have no problem. Its great especially if you have hand luggage only.

People with hold baggage will still have to queue to check their bags in, it will just take less time as they won't have to print off boarding passes and allocate seats.

I wonder if there will be fewer check in staff on now?

Looking forward to the day I tick the "One way only" box when booking flights to Fuerte. [:)]

Flew back with Easyjet on Saturday and we were very pleased to see that they now have a separate check in desk at Fuerteventura if you have Speedy Boarding.  Not sure if this is new as we've not been since last February.  Anyway, it was great - no queues!

We always used to book Speedy Boarding, which was about £11/person/flight and now that you can pre-book seats, we had the extra leg room plus Speedy Boarding and it was only a couple of pounds more than we used to pay.

Unfortunately missed out on the first release of flights on the 27th of March as we were in the air when they released them.  Still booked for end October though but slightly more than we would have paid had I had access to computer a bit earlier!!

We've paid for reserved seats,do you have to pay for speedy boarding too ?

I booked to fly to Bilbao with Easyjet yesterday, the seat was allocated by them, I got a window seat for both flights, if I had selected my own seat it would have cost £3 to sit where they put me or £12 for a seat in the extra legroom sections. The on line booking also included on line check in, compulsory, and as I will be travelling cabin baggage only I can go straight through to airside. The flight bag rules are slightly better than FR`s almost the same size but no weight limit, if you can lift it you can take it. I just can`t see any point in speedy boarding now, not with seat allocation being compulsory. I suppose if you are among the first on you will get an overhead locker near to your seat, something that you might not get if you are last on.
Mentor to the boneheads.

If you have purchased premium seats you get speedy boarding thrown in

And just to clarify that 'premium' seats are Extra Legroom or Up Front seats:

Airbus A319 aircraft Extra Legroom and Up Front seats are located in rows 1, 10 and 11, and rows 2 to 5 respectively.

To answer my own question, no!

We flew home last Saturday (27th) and although all passengers seemed to have printed off their boarding passes as required, we were all issued with the old type boarding cards and told to use them.

Also, and I've never seen this before with Easyjet, whilst passengers were queueing ALL hand luggage was checked by placing it into 'the cage' and then tagged with an orange label.

There were two gates open: one for speedy boarding and one for everyone else. The speedy boarding gate was used after a while for everyone else.

I wonder what will hapen on today's flight(s) when (in theory) online check-in becomes compulsory?

Paddy why worry you have your booked seat no need to rush amble along when to queue has gone.  ;D

Easyjet online check-in is brilliant. Only take hand luggage so quickly through security. Doing mine tonight, print the boarding passes and we're done.  ;D
