Carne con papas

Last year we stayed at Cay Beach Villa, we were AI, if you ate the local dishes the food was exceptionally good, in fact I had some of the best food that I've ever had on the island and trust me I'm very very fussy being half ''Ithai''

Anyway to the meat and potatoes of the thread, a dish was made at the hotel ''carne con papas'' we it was meat and spuds, my question is whilst trying to replicate the dish here in soggy blighty, is was I imaging it but I'm sure it contained large cinnamon sticks, has anyone else come across this dish?

Jeepers you can tell its a boring Sunday here  :'(
