I wondered if anyone has tried installing one of these systems as an alternative to bottled water? If so, was it sourced from ES or UK, and does it produce drinkable water? Are replacement filters easy to source? Water in my Antigua apartment is so bad, I'm constantly lugging 8L bottles up the 3 flights of stairs. They seem to get heavier all the time!

The water here has already gone through the process of Reverse Osmosis.
Thanks Woe - that's why I was asking. There'd be no point in using a home system if it doesn't improve on the water quality produced by the island's RO and distillation desalination plants. My suspicion is that those large-scale plants sacrifice quality for quantity. The many posts about successful use of filter systems suggests that there's still a lot of mineral content that can be filtered out of the mains water. Would a small scale home RO system do this more effectively than the island's industrial scale plants or a home filter system?

Thanks for the link - had seen it some time ago, but then couldn't find it. Very useful - I believe the system Tamara is using is RO. Since posting, others have PMd me about the Foncal kit, which also has a recommend in that post. I'll check out Foncal when I'm back in FV - I always prefer to buy local where possible.

A friend of mine had a home filtration system but said it was a nightnmare finding replacement filters. I don't know if others had that problem.
I only use tap water for washing, brewing up, and cooking. I always use bottled water for drinking.
The one I buy is 'Bezoya', All supermarkets sell it. It's mainly for kids as its very low in salts and other chemicals, and tastes very weak.
