Post by: Mr Boo Boo on October 08, 2018, 15:08:16 PM
despite all the negative bile on other subject matters, we still fancy buying a retirement home in FV (in the next 2-3 years), would just like to know how those who live on the island on a permanent basis spend their day's, cant all be sunbathing !!!

Working part-time, cleaning the house, cleaning outside, cooking meals, doing the garden, watching TV, walking the dog, going shopping, washing the car, checking on websites and social media, and if there's time - going to the beach or local events.

Take up more excercise - new to us is paddle boards, padel tennis, yoga, tai chi, even cycling - never been fitter and probably drink less than we did when in England

Also some volunteering activities for animal rescue etc.

97% of expats just drink.

Imagine a drunk version of Eastenders.

Agree with what has been mentioned so far APART from the drinking which I believe has been over exaggerated >:( >:( >:(

Captain Sensible has hit the nail on the head if you also add discovering the island it's rural villages and their great local restaurants and of course there are 4 18hole GOLF courses

A lot of leaning on balconies and gossipping. Depends what kind of an area you live in.

That means that there are 4 19th holes.
So the drinking isn't so exaggerated after all  ;D
(I take it that the expression "19th hole" is english as well)

In addition to the above, getting familiar with health system and attending all those doctor and hospital appointments you forget to put in your age related heath issues list as you get older.

Personally we find that we drink less alcohol here than we did in the uk.  Too hot to afford hangovers 🤣

Or you could simply try to make sense of the rubbish that`s posted on here. And yes I`m guilty of participating in it as well as a few nutcases of which I`m one.

If you have a pool, you will find that it needs some attention so now and then.
If you have an attractive neighbor you might want to spend some extra attention there as well.
(we have often observed that quit a few people take this as a full time job  ;D )

01:00 â€" Have a wee
03-00 â€" Have a wee
05:45 â€" Have a wee
08:00 â€" Eat cornflakes or Porridge and always Prunes, followed by cup of tea
08-30- Look out of the patio doors at the weather
•   If dull, windy and cool go back indoors and watch daytime television, maybe go to the toilet, latter depends if the prunes are working.
•   If sunny, sit on the patio and stare into the Blue yonder drinking my cup of tea, I might even have a digestive biscuit depending on how much I weigh that morning or if I have a hangover. If I have a hangover, forget the above, full English at the La Luna.

09:00 Take the majority of my medication, includes Blood Pressure tablets, water retention, Gout etc etc depends if I have been hammering it over the previous few days, which is more than likely. If during the winter months, it might also include anti biotics for chest infections, Flu or severe cold.

09:15 â€" I might have my maid run the bath, or just stay dirty if not going into town or playing Golf.

09:15 â€" 12:15 â€" Odd jobs around the house, hose the patio down of the thick dust and accidently spray the straggling school children as they pass, always good for a laugh, check the irrigation system for leaks, throw pekan at the next doors cat for the hell of it, and gently sing to the  Marijuana Crop in the hope of a bumper harvest.

12:15 â€" Have the maid shower and oil me down, then fetch my lunch in either a nurse`s uniform or chalet maids, depends how I feel. Smoke a joint, chill out.

13:00 â€" Off to Pedro`s to meet up with all the other Ex Pats, sit (Hopefully) in the blazing sun, talking absolute pure unadulterated rubbish/gossip and drinking myself into oblivion for four hours before Happy Hour starts in Rock Island or any other bar depends on what match is on and the offers available.

If Match on - 22:00  - Taxi back home, eat anything I can get my hands on, collapse in bed.

If no Match on â€" 20:00 â€" Taxi back, then as above.

Tuesday â€" 10:30 Always see psychiatrist for depression.

You wont get that life back in the UK.

Small advice: at 09:00 add something to your medication for your prostate problem.
It will save you the 01:00 03:00 and 05:45 wee  :)

There is a special Cialis cure designed to help prevent prostate problems.
It's a daily 2 mg pill and you can save the Viagra fot your neighbors christmas pudding

Prostate cancer is now the most prevalent male cancer. Cialis will not cure it. Get it checked . or you might regret not doing so.
