Busy day for Rosario as 7000 visitors arrive on 3 Cruise ships on the same day. The shops will be happy. Queen Victoria arrives for the 1st time 3rd April..

When our car needed special maintenance due to compute trouble, we once had to spend more than 6 hours in Puerto de cabras (the original name, why they ever changed it???)
We wish 7000 passengers a lot of patience, endurance and resignation (and gallows humor)

Are shops open on Maundy Thursday?  Mercadona is on reduced hours today.

They could do so much more to make the area around the port more appealing. The pedestrianised part is pretty gross and although there are a few eateries, they're nothing to write home about and you'd struggle to get anything half decent to eat. There's not any bars either to speak of and even if there were then would you really want to sit outside along here and look at a hideous mixture of office blocks and ugly shop facades. There is potential along the Promenade but unfortunately this hasn't been exploited. In typical Fuerteventura fashion they dont really have an eye for design or a palate for good taste. If you want to see how it can/should be done then pay a visit to Arecife and the area around the port. It's called Charco de San Gines.

No idea what you are on about? We go quite often for a few hours and like the place.
Know what you mean. We have seen places that could make us like Coleta.

Compared to Invergordon (Scotland) another very popular cruise ship port of call, Rosario is nirvana and at least the sun is usually shining.

I heard, from somone that does not have their own transport, that cruise ship passengers get the service buses to places on the island from PR sometimes leaving the locals unable to get on the buses at intermediate stops because they are full to the legal capacity.  Anyone on this bb heard similar or experienced it for themselves?

I would doubt that many do that TBH.
People on cruises don`t tend to be short of cash so I would think would book an excursion if they wanted out.
Always a risk of the ship leaving without you if local buses with possible delays used.

They are well organised trips that run like clock work. Delays ? We are in Fuerteventura we dont get delays. If you want delays go and live in London.

Dah !! I didn`t mean the organised trips. I would expect them to be punctual!!

And what do you know about London? Obviously nothing because you've never lived there.

Totally agree about Cumbria Asworth, that is why our UK home is there, I always say the best thing about London is the 17.45hs out of Euston to Oxenholme 🤣🤣🤣

Go several times a year. The kids got jobs there after Uni and both live in central London. Not for me thanks. The place is the pits. If you want a great UK place to live and still mostly unchanged since the 50s try Cumbria. Paradise with a lot of rain..

Shame about the pot holes

Love London..fabulous place to live. It's why property is sky high. Everyone wants a piece of it. Cumbria must be nice for a weekend and that's about it for me. Nice place to walk the dog for sure. But then so is Greenwich park..

The pits? I'm sure your educated children are proud to have a philistine as a Dad! London caters for everybody. In London you have The Arts, Galleries, Museums, Theatre, Music, Comedy and wonderful architecture. London attracts some of the most talented chefs in the world and has restaurants and diverse cuisine to match. London has 24 hour public transport where you can get around easily and quickly using trains, buses, boat and taxis. London has the best parks in the UK and probably in the whole of Europe. That is why London gets over 30 Million visitors a year and generates 22% of UK GDP.

Ha ha. Each to their own I suppose. For me, somewhere that has endless people, endless streets, endless pollution, endless traffic, ok, pretty much endless everything that I do not want in my life is not for me. But that`s just me. I prefer the wide open spaces of anywhere, just not the weather of Cumbria, lol (or Scotland for that matter !)

A statistic for you both. Cumbria has the highest concentration of philistines in the UK

Lived in the hills on and off in FV for a time...and lovely it was too. But the call of London was too strong.  ...and in the end it was no contest.

Spent a few years living and working in FV enjoying the quiet life, the empty spaces and turquoise seas. Like you, I was called back to civilisation. By then had been priced out of our wonderful capital but am close enough to pay her a visit every now and then to sample her delights. Will never tire of London.

Morning John

I would guess between 07:00 and 08:00 based on what time most of the liners arrive they spend as much time at sea as possible, and will leave again at 18:00/19:00

They do not always come up to the East John, but I have checked and its route forecast puts it passing Pozo Negro at 06:29 so it should be visible up until 06:40.

Ah, the good old days when mass tourism didn't exist and a cruise was for the happy few.
Aruba had 1 cruise ship visit each week, the santa paula one wek and the santa rosa the other(Grace lines)
Each carried 300 passangers ! (and 250 crew)  8)
