Absolutely right! Oh dear, they cried in court.  Hopefully they'll cry a bit more in jail.  Maybe their sentences might send a message to the thousands of other chavs who think it's a good idea to try to claim their holiday cost back with fake sickness allegations.

And from Merseyside...hmmmm.

Careful, a lot of Fuerte visitors are from those parts!  Let's hope the hotels in Caleta and Corralejo have good hygiene standards.

It makes so much sense, it will cost the British taxpayer around £60,000 to keep the couple in jail??????? surely it would have made more sense to fine them £20,000 and make them pay all legal costs. Its like the 17th and 18th century style sentencing, show the working class who has the real power especially were money is concerned. Why don't the government introduce some form of arbitration system between Insurance Companies and Dodgy Claims, without going to court.
Holiday Companies will have a field day with price increases next year, so many reasons in the pipeline, they just make sure its headlined on a regular basis.

Your average member of the House of Lords is ripping the Tax Payer off for somewhere in the region of £20,000 every four months, you don't see them going to jail, they normally get rewarded with a pay rise every year. Look at our friend KIETH VAZ, its a joke, one law for them and another for us Chavs, we will have our day, fetch another bottle of Peroni Lass, my brains hurting.

What would really hurt is if they were blacklisted by every holiday company, airline, travel insurance company etc.

I agree with not sending them to jail. Fine them the full cost of the trial. Make them repay everything with a big take on their wages until it`s all paid off & blacklist them & make it all public

What wages?

That was assuming they were working. If not, they should get no benefits just food vouchers & again. Make it public !!

Agreed but you would have every do gooder and looney left politician on the planet blaming their deprived childhood and big bad travel companies and airlines for their problems.

Well done Thomas Cook. And from Merseyside...hmmmm.

just for clarity, scousers call people from the wirral "wooliebacks" or "wools" as a way of endearment.

also the wirral is part of cheshire, not merseyside, it might be an idea to not be so dumb about the people you are being racist to, in future ;)

Wools are basically anyone from outside Liverpool, although people from the Wirral tend to be called "Plazzy Scousers" too.

I'm a born and bred scouser, lived the first 33 years of my life in two dogs fightin' (Huyton to the wools amongst us), moved to Rainhill for 4 years (which is on the St Helens border, and borderline wool), then moved back to Croxteth Park for 4 years (posh bit around the corner from where Wayne Rooney is from), and last year we've bought a place in Cheshire.

Well, on the border of Cronton and Widnes, so I am now a borderline wool again.

I've attached a map that should help.

Wools are basically anyone from outside Liverpool, although people from the Wirral tend to be called "Plazzy Scousers" too.

The roughly rectangular peninsula is about 15 miles (24 km) long and 7 miles (11 km) wide. Historically, the Wirral was wholly within Cheshire; in the Domesday Book, its border with the rest of the county was placed at "two arrow falls from Chester city walls." However, since the passing of the Local Government Act 1972, only the southern third has been in Cheshire, with the rest in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral in the modern county of Merseyside.

WOOLY BACK

A wool is short for the Liverpool term Wooly Back which is a derogatory expression for people from Lancashire and Cheshire, originating from the early 1900's when the population of Lancashire used to wear a form of sheepskin coat and was considered to be a sheep sh466er by scousers.

Another theory,
WOOLY BACK (noun). Originally a nickname for people who worked on the Liverpool Docks, who used to carry the wool (from Wales) for export onto the ships.

And another,

WOOLY BACK

Noun
(plural woolybacks)

(regional, Liverpudlian) A person who works in Liverpool docks (historically)
(regional, pejorative, Liverpudlian) A person from any of several towns or the country around Liverpool (present day)
Origin
Liverpool Docks 18th Century: Unloading ships, the dockers would carry the woollen bales on their backs leaving traces of wool on their clothing.
Medieval. Non resident Welsh and English people attempting to avoid the entrance fee at Chester City Walls on market day, by sneaking through the livestock entrances with a sheep on their back.
Coal delivery men from mines in the areas surrounding liverpool would use a sheep fleece as padding for their backs when carrying bags of coal from their vehicles.
