Title: Home Inspection Visits
Post by: Geoff007 on September 19, 2017, 17:33:43 PM
During the summer whilst in the U.K., I have received a couple of phone calls from a Spanish guy wanting to visit my Fuerte house to do a "free" inspection. His English is as good as my Spanish so was an entertaining conversation and I think about Electrics
Whilst I am inclined to believe it is not a scam as the combination of Fuerte address and U.K. Phone number are not widely known, I would like the comfort of a forumite confirming they have also been provided with this service

Thanks

It could be official from Endesa, can't remember whether it was July or September last year but we happened to be at our villa and a guy turned up with official Endesa ID in a marked van and did the free inspection / test and left a certificate.  Endesa may have your UK mobile details on your account.

Hope that helps.

I agree with Windermeregolfer, we where at our house one day and a guy said he was to inspect our electricity, we were not sure but let him in and off he went, spent the day checking the electrics and off he went. He had very little English but said service is free.

Checked all power points, lights, checked all trips in the fuse box, he changed out some trips for a higher rated ones, checked outside lights. Checked cooker, water heater wiring etc. He had id and a Van marked up with company's name. He gave a written report / form on company paper at the end in Spanish but Google helped with actions/ results he done.  Visit showed up on electrical bill with 0 cost as its included in the monthly service fee. I'm not sure if this is every few years or just that the property was new and was being signed off by the electric company ?

If this was above board I would expect to get prior notification of such a visit.

Would be interesting to know what tariffs you are (if you have had this check) - it rings a bell as something being offered if you changed to a different tariff a while ago, perhaps OneLuz?

Yes official badge show to us, as our property was new I also thought it was part of the Electric company inspection before they switched on the smart meter as up until then electric had been supplied by the developer.
