How much does £1 buy you?

These are rates today. Never change money at an Airport. Today the rate at a bank cash machine in Caleta 1.08 with zero charges if you have the best credit cards.
The only people who change cash at airports are those who live in the "cash economy", and I've no problem with them getting ripped off.
Never had and never would use an airport exchange bureau
Neither would I kev, I find the on line exchanges much better, personally prefer ICE (International Currency Exchange) , good rate and post paid etc if you change over eight hundred quid. You still see fools trawling Corralejo high street noting down exchange rates at all those evil fake goods shops, what a waste of time when you`re on holiday, you will not beat the on line exchanges. Second best will be your local post office but steel yourself as they try to sell you travel insurance and the like.

No idea why because most bank accounts offer you free travel insurance

For a lot of people the "free" stuff you get with the premier bank accounts as "extras" go unused. So debatable if it worth it.
The worst rip-off I have seen was a bank ATM in France in July which offered offered a rate of 1 euro to £1.22
I did not accept it.
