Title: Update on Corralejo dune road
Post by: el caballo hambriento on August 30, 2017, 08:41:18 AM
Using Google Translate

"The Government of the Canary Islands now wants to save the route of the Dunes of Corralejo, although eliminating it was an environmental condition to give the green light to the northern highway. The pressure of neighbors and Cabildo has been key, although the last word will be of Environment.
David Monserrat

The La Caldereta-Corralejo dual carriageway project, which is currently open to traffic to the south, requires the removal of the road through the Dunes of Corralejo (FV-1). It is one of the conditions of the environmental impact statement, to be fulfilled once the entire route of the motorway has been completed around the beginning of 2018. But the elimination of FV-1 has found the rejection of neighbors and Cabildo.

The councilor of Public Works of the Cabildo, Edilia Perez, has transferred to the Government of the Canaries a proposal to preserve the road of the Dunes of Corralejo. According to Pérez, "the natural currents of the sand are not affected by the FV-1 route, but, in any case, by urbanizations built around the dunes of Corralejo." Perez is committed to keeping FV-1 open, but with a number of physical factors that "still have to be studied", although some could be "eliminating heavy traffic, installing speed bumps, etc."

The Ministry of Public Works of the Government of the Canary Islands confirms that it has received the proposal of the Cabildo and also qualifies it as "successful", since the FV-1 «is a way of access to beaches and different hotel establishments». That is why it has already contacted the Regional Ministry of Environment in order to "look for ways to make this road remain operational". However, the FTV-1 would remain open "with limitations of use", since, "obviously, it will not have the same use that it currently has, because there will be a new road [La Caldereta-Corralejo highway] that offers greater security And where it will be able to circulate at a greater speed ».

Luigi de Luigi, president of the neighborhood association of Parque Holandés, defends that the FV-1 remains open: "Removing it is something close to utopia, it would not be logical because it is necessary to give a good service to tourism." The local representative says that, through the platform change.org, have collected "about 4,000 signatures" for the coastal road remains operative."

You couldn't make it up, they discuss the situation now as an afterthought, they have a strange way of conducting business.

Restricting use of the road presents a massive opportunity to the local area of Parque Holandes, but they seem too stupid to capitalise on the issue.

Make the road North of P.H. accessible to walkers, cyclists, motos (below a certain power) and of course tour buses, donkeys and carts (if that floats someones boat, park and ride situations.

The whole area would explode with opportunity with all the extra services required: bars, cafes, restaurants, rental shops, etc.

I'm thinking of a situation like Covadonga (Picos Europa). Look at all the businesses on route to the lakes.

So P.H. residents should be delighted with the "closure" of the road.

The indigineous locals are only interested in money, but more importantly, money for themselves and hence we have a stalemate. They will change laws retrospectively to suit themselves.
