Title: Latest updates on terrace space at the airport
Post by: superkev61 on May 04, 2017, 21:31:25 PM
I understand that the outside ares at the airport are closed for refurbishments at the moment. Just wondering when people are flying back over the next few weeks could update us on progress.

The outside terraces were probably the best part of the airport once through security, not so nice if you're trapped indoors for a few hours

I wish the outside terraces would become no smoking, it`s not very pleasant when you go out there for a bit of fresh air and get gassed with second hand cigarette smoke.

I think that Fuerteventura airport is great having an area inside the secure zone where you can actually have a cigarette. Better than all the UK ones. Both areas are big enough to have smokers & non smokers. It's outside fresh air !! You are not exactly navigating through a pea souper cause there are some people smoking there. Live & let live I say !!

I agree with ZZ but a compromise would be if one of the outside terraces was for smokers and the other one was for non smokers and then everyone could be happy making the most of their last couple of hours on the island hopefully in the sunshine.

Live and let live, not an apt choice of phrase regarding smoking is it? Anyway, the problem is that no sooner have you found a table away from the smoking brigade than some smokers come along and sit next to you. sparking up immediately. Jill has a good idea, smokers one end, non smokers the other.

That would suit me fine.

I love the smell of nicotine in the morning.

Having seen the way some local things get designed, they'd probably put the non-smokers downwind  :D :D

Anyway back on topic...The `old end` of the building is closed for refurb. Large hoardings round it so impossible to say how long its going to be and no information on it at all..The newer one at the other end looks to have been closed permanently, with hoardings round that as well..so last drag outside and just hp[e you dont get one of the horrendous delays we have had in the recent past

The cafeteria in arrivals land side is also closed at present.  That was handy for buying a bottle of water.

What about the Cafes down in departures, are they open?

I was last at the airport on 2nd May and the indoor cafe in departures was open.   I do not know about the outside one at the end of the building as I had no time to check it out; I normally go there for a coffee but had not time this time.

Two days ago there was a very tiny outside space for smokers in the departure area. No chairs or tables just a few ashtrays around and a waste bin.

We flew back on Monday night. We didn't spend much time upstairs in departures as there is still loads of work going on.

We checked our bags in and went and sat outside for a while. There was a little van outside the entrance where you could get drinks and snacks but the prices looked a bit steep. The cafe just along the check in area is still open too should you not want to sit outside.

Upstairs there are still paces open selling the usual sandwiches drinks etc and at both ends of the airport. I did notice that the gates ate moving further down the airport to just above the arrivals bit hence all this work going on. It's not the best airport in the world for departures as most people are on a downer as they are heading home, however by the time all the new works are finished it should be more pleasant for all.

One thing they really good do with is an Aspire type executive lounge.

Both outside areas are now closed and there is no where to smoke.
