to get a residents green card do they do a criminal record check.
no they do not-
you need private health cover along with a sum in the bank ( to live on ) or UK state pension form for transfer of full NH or job contract as far as I know.

Interesting question that one Chris, it has reared it's head over the years on the forum but no one ever seems to come up with any companies or costs.
I know it can depend on the individuals current medical history or illnesses but surely someone should have some ball park figures based on Mr or Mrs average middle aged in reasonable health?
We were quoted just under 1800 euros for 2 of us one 60 one 48 , if you go down that route you a!so need 6000 euros in Spanish account. Alternative is work contract

Was the â,¬1800 for a year?
Yes 1year, I believe you have to be careful of the level of cover you have as apparently they will only accept certain ones . we were told that by our lawyer and the insurance guy in corralejo
That seems quite reasonable for 2 of you. After you have been resident for at least a year, you can go on the Convenio Especial for â,¬60 a month each, until you are 65, which gives access to the Spanish Health Service. It is â,¬157 each once you reach 65.

(Proof of private health care) only if not paying into their Social Security
