460,974 arrivals and departures from the airport in September - a 9.4% increase on last September..
A total of 4,203,323 arrivals and departures between Jan and September 2016 - a 13.2% increase on the same period last year.
The Tourism Dept. are predicting a 21% increase over the coming Winter period a there are new flights from Hungary, Estonia, Poland and France, in addition to the existing routes.
Certainly more cars on the road to back up the rise in visitors. Used to say 6 cars was heavy traffic traffic, but its noticeable the increase that has occurred this year.
It's just an excersise in boosting Tourist Numbers. Well, the All Inclusive Hotels will be happy,
New flights from Hungary, Estonia, Poland and France,
Complete waste of time for Restaurants, Cafes and Bars. These people don't spend a cent, some don't even bring money with them :'(
Travelmole reporting yesterday that package tours are making a fast comeback in the industry and with the pound being volatile, at present, the next 12 months may be a bit leaner yet for restaurants,cafes and bars
The middle East crisis is diverting thousands of extra tourists to the Canaries ...for winter sun especially. Many won't even go to Turkey now let alone Egypt and the rest of North Africa. Why take a chance when you don't neend to. They don't particularly like westerners anyway so dont give them your hard earned.
Have to agree with Woe they are barking up the wrong tree with Eastern Europeans. The British are always the best spenders. Maybe because they can do quantities of alcohol like no others. ;)
All the Tourist Board are bothered about, to boost their image in Government is filling beds in hotels. Great for the likes of Barcelo, who in 2015 made a net profit after taxes of over â,¬100 million, with 105 All Inclusive Hotels in 18 countries.
