Not before time. Can we assume they have now .A, decided on the grade of sand required?  .B. managed to source it?

I read somewhere it requires 100 ,000 cubic metres there should be 100,s of tons of sand arriving daily, if they want to finish before Xmas

The Coastal Authorities were deciding whether there was enough sand at the bottom of Puerto Del Rosario Harbour for both Playa Chica and Caleta.

It seems that the extension of the Playa Chica beach in Rosario had priority. Why, I don't know, as it's the tourists who bring in the money, and deserve a proper beach after all these years.

If they have started dumping sand in Caleta, then they must have seen sense for once .

The Rosario beach is allegedly to improve the facilities for the winter cruise liners

What's more important  ??   I've seen those Scandies wandering around aimlessly in Rosario. They never use the beach in Rosario in the summer when they're here, so I doubt if they will in the winter. Complete waste of money.

There was a dredger working off the beach at Caleta overnight, so it would appear that after a year of discussing what grade of sand was required and even more discussions as where to source this sand, what do you know the sea bed out there is mostly sand :o

Rosario/Caleta beaches - I've seen new sand beaches created in other places, one near Mogan in Gran Canaria, the first high tide and most of it disappears back out to sea!

Lets hope it does not happen here, that dredger appears to be working 24 hours a day, it was back yesterday at 08:00 and again at 15:00.

Last week they had started shifting the sand from in front of Geranios across to the beach in front of the Barcelo.

Of course it does, Tamara: If sand was there already they wouldn't have to do anything so futile as to put some there. You can't 'replenish' anything that's not supposed to be there except as a very temporary fix.
As for dredging: it's the opposite case; you're just creating a vacuum into which more sand will move.
Beaches are built naturally by many factors acting together: for instance; in the North Sea the sand circulates anti-clockwise continually and if one country dredges it, another country's coastline is starved and will erode. There are European treaties in place to regulate littoral dredging.
I'm not sure how the tides and oceanic circulations work around the Canaries but I don't suppose the tourist board or the developers care anyway. Make a quick buck and then pass the other kind of buck so to speak.

The sea will always do what it wants with the coastline and we can do nothing to change that.

By the relatively sheltered waters of the English Channel, Rocken End, in winter, one of our (Isle of Wight) naturist beaches is regularly hit by cliff falls of several hundred tons of softish rock.
Within a few tides, however it will be pristine again.

Nature rules.

Are you sure that shouldn't be several hundred tons of softish flesh?
