Title: Tamaragua Commercial Complex
Post by: Tamkid on April 18, 2016, 17:25:43 PM
Does anybody know the outcome of the Auction of the "Tamaragua Commercial Complex"?  Did any Brits manage to buy any of the outlets?

Hi Tamkid, that's news to us. Mind you we've only been here 11 years!
Still recovering from the shock of Manzana 10's swimming pool finally being OPEN!
We usually get the news much later than those on the grapevine.
Look forward to hearing the latest. 8) 8) 8)

I was told the reason for "Shooters" closing down was that the Banks were auctioning off all of their bankrupt commercial stock at the end of March, the properties included the back row of outlets in the commercial sector of Tamaragua.

Wasn't there the new trike tours using next door to shooters as a base ? So has that closed as well ? Not the reason I've heard why shooters as shut but we know what the Fuerte grapevine is like ;)

Yes Roar, the trikes went at the same time. Reason for closure, according to the grapevine, debts. 8)

There is all sorts of rumours flying around. Ian of Catamaran fame together with Shooters Mark are in partnership with the overland vehicles, they seem to be doing very well, they have another dozen on order.

I know Mark and Ian very well and as per usual the tamaragua grapevine is totally wrong. The buggies are doing very well (as tamkid says more are on order). They were using the local adjacent to shooters for convenience but have now relocated. (the office is in Campanario)

Possibly the closure of the locals was due to debts....but not by the aforementioned people. The debt was the fact that the owners of the locals foreclosed with the bank...ie did not pay the mortgage. Shooters was actually doing pretty well. As per usual rumours abound and most are started by people that probably never (or rarely) used the bar (except perhaps for when they wanted Mark to translate something for them or there was a free BBQ.

I agree wisemonkey. Shooters was a great focal point for the ex pats with a brilliant landlord/lady, there is no back doors with Mark, he tells it how it is. Over the years Mark has done so many favours people, keeping them employed, seeing them through hard times. I have had some fantastic times in Shooters, brilliant memories, shame things turned out the way the have. Ian is the same, very nice guy, I wish them all the best with their new venture.
