Hopefully purchasing a property , I just need some advise /recommendations as to which is the best bank account to open.

The question has been posed before, and you will get a few recommendations as well as banks to steer clear of....!
As far as my own experience goes, in the same position as you are now we opened an account with Sabadel, following advice on here. We get excellent personal service in the Caleta branch, in English if necessary, and their online banking system which we use extensively has been faultless so far. We keep UK bank accounts too, and use Transferwise for all movements from Sterling to Euros. Hope that helps!

Hi Caza - we are in a similar position and buying near Caleta.
We speak little or no Spanish so when it came to opening our bank a/c it was with trepidation we went to Sabadell Solbank in the Atlantico Centre, the trepidation soon melted away as we couldn't have been made more welcome with English spoken, most paperwork in English and the website for online banking in English. The process was much easier than in the UK!!!! and took under an hour from start to finish.
With regards to the Lawyer, we are using Beatriz Alvarez Martinez who is based in Puerto, she speaks very good English and is taking us through all the paper work, some of which is in English, we are very pleased with her support so far.

In our case we used a solicitor in Corralejo on a friend's recommendation, Aguado Damsel y Reguera, who were very good indeed. English-speaking, they guided us through the process (we remained in the UK, selling our property there concurrently), and sorted out a few bits and pieces afterwards. That was almost two years ago, and now we know the area better and have more if the language, we tend to use Caleta-based people now. Like Windermeregolfer mentions, we too have heard very good things about Beatriz Alvarez Martinez, but can't speak from experience.
In general, I don't think any of our friends here have had any problems with buying residential property, using solicitors on personal recommendations. Beyond that, there is the wonderful Sabrina Williams (Canary admin services) for all the admin stuff that doesn't warrant the cost of a solicitor!

Agree with what's been said so far, we did actually use Sabrina for our purchase.
She certainly earned her money on that one as it was a repo with Bankia. Nightmare :o
simply don't consider opening a spanish bank account, work from your one at home, at least you will have full control.
Have to agree with the positive comments. Sabadell are excellent. Online banking is easy and Transferwise are best for moving your money. We used Carola at Glex lawyers in Puerto and the process was pretty simple - everything done online. Best of luck with your move.
We use Bankia, good face to face service, but on line is a joke :-)

Superb service from fuerteventura residences in Caleta ,
Chauffeur driven to all departments , forms all filled in , all we needed to do , is sign !
Bancamarch , great service and staff speak good English .
Highly recommend both companies
Ps , I've read horror stories if people having to sort out bank acts , sols, and getting an NIE number ,
I wouldn't know where to start , so so glad that fuerteventura residences
Can take care of the whole package from start to finish ,
What a weight off our shoulders !
