That won`t do, that won`t do at all. I am coming over on Saturday and I expect better. Can you change it please. Failing that, can someone with an alternative and brighter forecast please post it up. I am hoping that Woe has lived up to her name and posted up the most pessimistic forecast .
We just had a thunder storm and heavy rain, in Morro, so may help to clear the way zz11
It won't change until the wind changes direction. Still coming up from the south.
We came out on Nov 19th last year and it was lashing it down when we landed.Never seen rain on Fuerte before that.Rained every day we were out there too.Coming out the same dates this year so hoping for better !!!
Some people have said that last winter was the worst for many years. Lets hope it was a one off!
Oh god, it's like facebook on here
My whole news feed on there is full of people saying it's raining in fue.
Nice downpour late yesterday afternoon and last night first proper heavy rain on the golf course since may. Good for the Roses and the golf courses.

True, probably better posted in the "Environment & Weather" but saying that, this is the "General Chat" section and we do love to talk about the weather. Could have been video clips of cute cats!
When it's not rained for 6 months, a downpour is big news. Still, we fared better than Tenerife, Gran Can and Lanzarote. They always get the brunt of it.
Corralejo, heavy downpour at 2 am. Thank you very much.
Wind has turned Westerly now so who knows what we get next? 8)

More rain and storms during the week. Luckily, mostly over the other Islands to the West and North.
Be thankful you're not in Tenerife :o
Well Woe that forecast was right and if we get the amount of rain they forecast for tomorrow it should keep the gardeners happy for several weeks.!!!!!!
Absolutely persisting down, and all day Friday :o
If it keeps raining like it is now, then its not an umbrella we need but a boat!
Shut the curtains and turn the telly up. At least the car will be clean in the morning. :D
FRIDAY: ALL CANARIES ON RED ALERT. ALL SCHOOLS CLOSED.
PUERTO DEL ROSARIO LAST NIGHT

i don't know ! you'd think you've never seen rain before, :o having said that i guess it's rather unusual for this time of the year in this part of the world, as for a boat, well, i have one of them, but it would'nt be much fun being on it with all this persisting down with rain. 8)

That's the point I have seen rain before, two weeks solid in Cornwall one year, cabined up with two small kids & a chest infection. It may be selfish, but that's the reason I love Fuerty, not a lot of rain.
The road through the Sand Dunes to Corralejo has been closed.
They have closed the schools for the day and we have had a couple of showers in Caleta. This island must be a teachers dream.
How are things in Costa Antigua?

In the past, the rainfall amounts received were a lot less than the rainfall experienced in the last few years. The infra structure was not designed to handle the rain it is now receiving. There are very few drains built to take surface water away. The other night I watched the path opposite me disappear, then half the road, then all the road, then the path in front of the house it was only when the pecan stones in front of my garden wall allowed the water to drain, that I felt a sense of relief. Also the volcanic rock does not allow any drainage. So when the large amounts of water we have had fall the impact on the island is substantial. I would imagine that with all the flat roofs we will have lots of people with leaks. The island may have to change how it handles this rain, by building roads with drains and having pitched roofs etc. There has been a noticeable change in rainfall amounts since I came 10 years ago.

All that comes under the category of "Logic" which doesn't exist here.
Here they build first, then think about infrastructure after, telephone lines being the prime example.
Flat roof houses are "Traditional", and they won't budge from that, even though a pitched roof makes sense.
Fudenas 2015 cancelled. 2000 unhappy lyca-clad warriors!!
Try to live according to the lyrics from Mañana is soon enough for me (Peggy Lee)
The window she is broken and the rain is comin' in
If someone doesn't fix it I'll be soaking to my skin
But if we wait a day or two the rain may go away
And we don't need a window on such a sunny day
and enjoy the easy life of Fuerteventura

Some brave ones are continuing. I can see them from my house.
Yeah. Some rebels have defied the authorities and still met at the start. But, as someone already pointed out, if they get into difficulties, who will help? I know they are complaining that they trained hard and paid out a lot to get here. That's life.
Well I think that's more than enough for the moment, so can someone up there please turn the tap OFF. Looking on the bright side when the sun did shine today it brought some Butterflies at last!!!!! Maybe now the hedgehog will visit tonight.
The Normally dry riverbed through El Matorral which goes under the main road.

We were in Boscastle in 2004 during the floods plus live in manchester so a little rain in Fuerto is nothing plus been to fuerto 13 times and only had rain once, let's hope the rain clears in January when we are next over.
Nice river , are there any fish in it :D

I had the biggest section of roof on our house done this year due to leakage had a slope put on it channelling it into one exit which put a downspout on seems to have worked ;D
We are thinking of having that done to our flat roofs Ivan. They are a continual pain in the butt with leakage despite our best efforts over the years. We have water run offs but because the roof is not on any kind of incline, water sits there and fails to fully drain off. Did they just concrete the slope on top of existing surface? and what was the general cost?
We had concrete put on a kitchen we had so much smaller than the rest of the house. Felt was laid first then concrete was put on with a slope to run off to a spout. 2 coats of bitumen was painted on the concrete and pecan then put back on top of that. The result has been fantastic and an added benefit is that during the "winter" the kitchen is the warmest room in the house as all heat is retained. Cost for our kitchen was 590 euros. (2.5 metres x 3.5 metres)
existing roof sealed then concreted a slope on the roof channelling the water into one downspout instead of it dispersing on to different sections of the roof, was sealed with bitumen paint and felt ,and finally the stones put back on the top ,not cheap â,¬2850 or there abouts ,it was the large section of roof on the house on Tam not sure of the size but large ;D
Ok thanks for the replies. It does sound a bit pricey but will have to look into it.
To be honest if you had the time and know where to get the stuff it's a relatively straight forward job , it's not cheap having one of those wagons that pump the concrete onto the roof ??? ???
just go with the thread title ..........get a big umbrella ! ;D :D :D
If only that easy ;D ;D
The only time I like to use an umbrella is to shield me from the sun 8)

You can get a big Golfing Umbrella at the Golf Course. Arm & a Leg though.
naah ! yer need one o'them big parasol's that you see outside bar's etc and nail it down on yer roof. :D ;D
still need about 10 of them so on second thoughts it was cheaper to have the roof re-done ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
