Not sure, but Jayne has it at her Wine Bar in Caleta if anyone wants a closer view (and order a glass of vino or one of her lovely cocktails on her sunshine terrace)   ;) ;) Best mojito I've tasted btw  :)

Thanks Hev, I'm sure Jayne will appreciate that plug  ;D She bought the plant to match her colour scheme.

Getting back to the plant, MLA, it looks like you could be right. Thanks.

Almost certainly a Bougainvillea, we have one in the corner of one of our terraces, but having said that we only know the name as we were told that,s what it has when we bought it, and the same shop owner tried a couple of days ago to tell my wife a plant she was buying was an unpronounceable name, when it is patently obvious it is a geranium

Geranium is Geranio. As in Geranios Suites Hotel Caleta.

If you are referring to the plant that I guess you are then it is properly called a pelargonium. It is often referred to as a geranium but really geraniums are Cranesbill's, commonly referred to as hardy geraniums. Perhaps the lady in the shop was giving the plant it's proper name.

Trust me Tamara/Woe green fingered I am not I can kill grass with just a look from 50 paces, but having been married to my wife for 40 years, who loves them, I can also spot and recognise a geranium from a similar distance  :)

They all belong to the Geranium family.

The Greek word for Crane is Geranós , hence Crane's-Bill, referring to it's beak-like column which springs open when ripe and casts the seeds some distance.
