I always stay in Maravilla apartments. Overpriced for the quality of accommodation but worth it to me for the position right on the coves beaches and its naturist friendliness - nude from a naked breakfast on the patio to the sea with no problems.

Based upon 3 months in the area, I wish to make a quick comparison of Maravilla vs. El Caleton.
1) Depending upon which apartment you are able to select, it is not clear which one is more expensive; however,  El Caleton is usually more expensive. But the apartments are usually nicer. If quality of accommodations is something you strongly value, El Caleton is probably be your best choice.
2) Nudity. If you prefer a natural state, be aware that El Caleton prefers you cover up before hitting the beach... which is pretty naturist friendly. Maravilla does not care. Sunbathe, swim in the pool or walking to the beach - doing it au natural is okay at Maravilla.
3) Electricity. El Caleton has a generator. It makes noise. Maravilla does not. I'm told people get use to the noise.
4) Walk to town. El Caleton is further out. If you have a car, this is not an issue.

For those of us who value being comfortable in our own skin, Maravilla often wins out. A studio on the side is 40 euro per day, but it is pretty basic. But as one resident said - if you came to Fuerteventura to be inside, you missed the point. The apartments are more expensive, but the views are spectacular. Many Maravilla inhabitants have been coming back for nearly 20 years. However others find it too rustic and never return.  Regardless of which accommodation you select, you are close to one of the best beach bar's in the world and a fine European restaurant.

Just back and can report that there was a higher number of nudist on the lagoon at Caleton and the larger lagoon now El Concha mainly on the north side.
Great to see more naturist about again.

Very nude heavy here this year, very encouraging to see. The town itself is busier, more people staying and new shops as well. Don't want it to go too far though.

Had a fab time around the lagoons this year, only spoilt slightly by some Germans "booking" the bunkers for their friends (towels and chairs in place no one around) and then sitting outside them for the duration of their stay!

The Temperature was high when we were there end of Sept . 29-37 degrees and little wind . Bunkers are not used when its really hot as the temp would been even hotter . We used to use the bunkers but not any more . They are also a great attraction as toilets !

Just got back from a week at El Cal (24-31 Oct) Probably the best weather we've had in the 6 years of visiting Fuerte, we always have the same week, 1/2 term.  There was a downpour the day before we arrived & it peed it down on the Saturday we left, but in between it was wall to wall & in the high 20s. There was a strong naturist presence (+75%) in the lagoons, as ever.
We had the highest tides I've ever seen on Fuerte, which caught us out on the first day & washed us out of the bunker :o
We visited 2 or 3 restaurants, but I'll post my comments in the relevant sections.
We've already booked for next year ;D

Having just got back from a very relaxing 5 day break, fully agree with suendrob re nude on beach  :) and developments in town shouldn't go much further apart from smartening up some of the buildings.

Looking forward to going back again in February

it is nice to hear that naturism is on the up again.
The past few years seem to have had diminishing numbers around El Cotillo.

I've got to wait until February for my next visit and am really hoping to experience warmer weather than 2013 and 2014.
