The horrors of the sea - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-32433547
I remember that day in 2004 very well, it was mainly the tourists that helped the poor souls on the beach rather than the authorities. I also remember all of the Black slave labour the Spanish employed on Tamaragua and many other complexes across Fuerteventura. In Tamaraguas case, they slept rough under the underpass at the bottom of the estate or in some of the half built properties. Once the property boom stopped and the recession kicked in, the authorities rounded them all up and shipped them out to mainland Spain for onward distribution to the rest of Europe.
