Title: The Lord Nelson...Caleta
Post by: IsThisForumStillGoingWow on February 10, 2015, 00:08:12 AM
Really sad to hear that after 14 years Greg and Kat are leaving The Lord Nelson..their contract expires the end of March BUT before anyone posts woefull things they will be re-opening in the old chinese buffet place opposite Caleta Gardens (the less than one's image of idealised perfection one that's been closed a while, not Wok Slowboat)
I wish them all the luck in the world and will be visiting when they re-open (they are hoping for mid April)
Good luck to Greg and Kat  :) :)

Rumour has it that El Capitan (Captains) will be going too, when Peter's contract runs out. Touricomplex want the whole of Pueto Caleta Hotel back, to convert to All Inclusive.

I hope not Woe, that's one of my favourite chill out places.El Caps   :(
We also like staying in Peurto Caleta as its so central and handy for everything. Ok it's one of ther oldest complexes and not swish or smart but it's clean, frequent maid service, cheap and the staff are always really friendly. We wont go there if it goes AI though  >:( >:(

Yep, I agree with you Hev, buts that's the way of the world. All Inclusive is taking over all Caleta.
The hotel wants it back, they'll take it. Barcelo did the same in the old square. Kicked people out that had been there for years, just so they could build more apartments.
At the end of the day, these so-caled business people don't give a toss  :-X

You'll have to get your "Sangria" someplace else  8)

Thanks BS  ;D I could actually read it Admin, it'd just messed the page up, made it very long. It wasn't invisible, just annoying  ::)
I think BS has modified it since.
I certainly couldn't read it as it stands without resorting to trickery.
Mind you my eyesight is otegy kfgnm.

Do we know when El Capitans lease is up?
I can't think of anywhere else it could go in Caleta, certainly not in it's current form.   :(

Perhaps Tyrol will become the new El Capitan's?

It's the Beerkellar, ran by Peter, under the Risco Dorada Hotel, next to the Kings Arms.

We have eaten in Tyrol several times - quite different, but MUCH quieter that El Capi so easier to get a table.
For those who like it (not me) they also have Weisbier.

It's nothing like Captains. No terrace to speak of, no sun, and high walls all around it.
That Weisbier is disgusting  :-X

I agree that it's nothing like Capitan's, but on those occasions when Capitan's is bursting at the seams it is an alternative venue where you can usually walk in, get a table and be served.
Whilst Weisbier is not to my liking at all there are people who do like it and I don't knock them - it's their choice. A bit like music - not all music is to everyone's taste - as Woe10 should well know!

Weissbier is lush, especially when it's below freezing, cheesy europop is blaring and your dancing on the table in your ski boots :)

Wonder how these bars can stay in business considering the King's Arms offer the cheapest pint on the rock :-*
