:D My daughter took her BA flight home to London Gatwick yesterday. £70 one way.
She told me that the aircraft was 30% full, and that she was provided with free food and drink. She chose a Gin and Tonic, and was also provided with a top up and a Chicken wrap followed by chocolates. The service from the cabin staff was also excellent. Flight arrived on time.
We've flown BA since they came back and the service was good and we've got some more booked between now and Xmas. However, at 30-50% loading I think they'll kill the route unless it picks up. EZY seems to have a higher load even though they can be more expensive, especially at peak. I guess we'll wait and see what happens over the summer/autumn.
The downside of BA is they are only Weds/Sat from LGW and EZY are more frequent and will have some nice flight timings after March with evening departures from the UK, so long weekends are possible.
And you can only book your seat and your boarding card a few days before departure.

She downloaded her boarding card on her I Phone (no need to print) and obtained a window seat with no one occupying the next two seats. Ryanair also use this system for boarding cards so no hassle with the short lead time.

True - 24hrs before for check in unless you have a shiny card (not Blue though) or pay.
7 days for Bronze, time of booking for Silver/Gold, emergency exits for Gold.
Just a thought.
BA, and Norwegian who also give an excellent service, obviously see a gap in the short haul market.
There is also evidence of poor service and arrogance from Ryan Air, who also have reluctantly had to up their game to compete with Easyjet.
Lets hope the competition will continue on Fuerteventura and all short haul routes to benefit the people who matter the most.
Norwegian seem to have dropped their LGW flight for summer (other than thru' Thomson) and Ryanair have dropped their Bournemouth flight. Both, I guess, because their subsidy has expired.
Not good for us, as BA are not going to be competitive enough. Our next flight back to the UK in May is with BA, but I cannot see any competition out of Gatwick, now.
Indeed - some of the flights from LGWor BRS are starting to get to be silly money in peak.
Just after the August bank hols we're going back via BCN to save a small packet but sadly lose an afternoon.
